From digital marketers to doctors, they're all promising the secret to "6-figure leads" or should I say " Blueprint"😅 It’s no surprise that my inbox is flooded with business coaches offering "6-figure leads" and "premium coaching"—many of them from sales, digital marketing, or even non-MBBS doctors. While I dont deny that these coaches may bring valuable expertise, the approach often misses the mark. We’ve all heard the buzzwords that sound appealing and we often fall for it. What you should be wondering instead is that: Would this coach give me a blueprint that I need to follow? Or Is he/she capable enough to help me create a blueprint tailored for my business as per required? Why do I say this? As someone who's done her MBA and a first gen solopreneur, even my MBA in Healthcare didn’t fully prepare me for the struggles of setting up a business. Thankfully, my mentors helped me lay a solid foundation and gave me the ropes to understand how to support myself. Point is: *one-size-fits-all* strategies don’t always suit the unique challenges Dietitians face in growing their practices. The most competitive business has to be companies/people offering SEO. I get at least a dozen messages every day from someone that can get me on page 1 of Google. If every business used these companies, then every business would be on page 1 of Google. For some reason, I do not think this is possible. Now because I wrote this, I will get a bunch of SEO companies/people telling me that they have the formula to make it happen. Everyone has the formula, but not one of them are on page 1 of Google.

Here are my thoughts + tagging Brandon Grill for chatting through this with me! 1️⃣ Prioritize local search + your niche for where you are actually based, just like you would have before. -"anxiety therapy Seattle" Even if you only take virtual clients and can now practice across dozens of states, Google will likely share results with searchers based on where they are, so totally ignoring local search might be a mistake. 2️⃣ If there is a high-population city you want to get more clients from, you could create an additional website page targeting that city specifically. -"anxiety therapy Denver" -"anxiety therapy Miami" -"anxiety therapy Los Angeles" Just make sure your content on those pages is 90% unique (i.e. can't just change the city name.) 3️⃣ Probably don't try to rank for super broad, extremely competitive, worldwide search terms like "online therapy." As a private practice, you're not gonna be able to compete with tech giants like Talkspace and BetterHelp that dominate the search results. Also: you probably have higher standards than those tech companies do. You don't just want ~any~ client looking for ~any~ therapist they can see online.
