Sometimes in the design world, I feel like I'm leading a whole pack of "dogs" — just like a real dog walker — each one pulling in a different direction, and each role demanding attention. It's just like the picture, although I don't smoke, unless it's a metaphorical fire to put out! But isn't that what multitasking is all about? Plus, if the project requires it and I can do it, then why not? 🎨 Design, marketing, web development, research, and so much more… Being pulled apart is almost part of the job! But here's the question: should I keep being this "handler of all tasks," taking on the work of several people at once? Or maybe it's time to focus on just one thing, make one dog my loyal companion, and move forward together? 🐕🎯 💡 What do you think is better — being a jack-of-all-trades or diving deep into one niche and perfecting it? And are companies looking for such specialists?

If you own a service business, you’ll keep doing this because it’s what you know ⬇️ You’ll keep tweaking the things you’re an expert in, hoping it’ll finally get you the results you dream of. Before I realised that I needed to “trust the process,” I used to overhaul my copy and messaging every time I had a quiet spell 😅 I know so much about it that I assume I’ve missed a key piece of info or tactic or whatever because there’s always more to learn and change. 💻 If you’re a web designer you might tweak your website, adding in a new element you just learned about because “maybe this will do it.” 🎨 If you’re a brand strategist you might rebrand once a year because, as you know, branding attracts and repels clients so maybe yours is repelling too many people. 👩💼If you’re a coach you might add more bonuses and coaching to your offers, add in a new technique you’ve just become qualified in, or change your offers altogether. We all think that our area of expertise is the missing piece because we believe so much in what we do. 99% of the time, it’s the thing you’re not an expert in that is the thing that needs overhauling. But as you don’t know what you don’t know…you assume that those areas of your business are fine as you, naturally, can’t discern between conversion-focused copy vs good enough copy. 🏔 When you’re not making as many sales as you’d like, or when making just one sale feels as hard as walking up a mountain in flip-flops… Consider that it might be your copy that needs some help, not your area of expertise 💰 Do you tweak your copy often if you've DIY-ed it? 😬

How many decision-makers are too many? (not a setup for a joke) I always get a sinking feeling in my gut when the project kickoff meeting begins and I see five or six faces appear in the virtual room. That instantly tells me that it’s going to be a rough time getting things approved. That’s because of the Ice Cream Principle from the book “Don’t Call it That”. The principle is simple. Imagine you and nine other workmates go for ice cream, but there’s a strange condition - you all have to agree on only one flavor. Tough, right? I bet you’re leaving with something like vanilla. This line from the book sums it up perfectly 👉 “Groups of people don’t agree on what’s cool or interesting, they agree on what’s easy to agree on.” Everyone has an opinion on how your website should look. But not every opinion should be brought to the designer. I’d prefer max 2 decision-makers during feedback rounds. Otherwise, if seven different people give feedback directly to the designer, you end up with a site built like Frankenstein’s monster - everyone has their say, but their input has no no cohesion or vision. When there is one ultimate decision-maker, it solves a lot of these issues. What do you think? Should everyone have a say in how your company’s site looks and feels? #webdesign #branding #freelancer

For the past 15+ years, I’ve been shaping brands and crafting digital experiences across various industries, yet I never paused to create my own. After months of creative deep dives, fine-tuning, and the inevitable “is this really ready?” resistance, I’m proud to finally launch the Vision & Code website. Vision & Code isn’t your typical agency. We’re a collective of creators—masters of our craft—who’ve collaborated for years. No hierarchy, no red tape. Just pure, collaborative energy that makes the process as smooth as it is impactful. This project wouldn’t exist without the incredible partners who brought it to life: Nenah Bondi, a web design genius who transforms ideas into digital magic; Willow Greene, the branding queen who makes everything look as good as it feels; and Ashley Carucci Lombardo, the brilliant wordsmith who knows how to make a message resonate. Together, we’ve created something special in the digital sphere. Take a look at the new site, explore our latest projects, and see how we can co-create something amazing together. If you’ve been holding onto ideas and need a partner to bring them to life, let’s connect. From branding and print design to email marketing, we’ve got you covered. Creative spaces are everything, and I’m excited to share ours with you—maybe even help shape yours in the future. www.visionandcode.com

When working with my clients, we always delve into brand values 💙. Honestly, your brand values are the compass 🧭 that guides your business journey. They’re not just lovely words to write down and have in your back pocket; they’re the essence of WHO you are and WHAT you stand for. When you communicate 💬 these values, you can’t help but create a powerful magnet 🧲 for others who resonate with your mission. By authentically expressing your values in all aspects of your business, from your website to social media, you encourage deeper, more meaningful connections with your audience. This alignment helps you attract the right clients AND builds lasting relationships based on shared values and mutual understanding. I'm curious 👀 ❓ Have you given much thought to your brand values? ❓ If you have, which values drive your business? ❓ How do you incorporate them into your biz? If you need some help, please comment below, or send me a DM. Or, if you'd like to dig deeper, book a 1-hr Get Unstuck & Flourish Strategy Call. 🚨🎨 💻 Do you design websites for small businesses? I'm looking to update my website later this year. I'd love to partner with a design expert to take what I've built and smooth the edges. It's a beautiful cobbler-has-no-shoes scenario. Here's what I'd love help with: 👨🎨 Directly updating the visuals, UX, fonts and design via SquareSpace based on original concepts, content and offerings that we'll discuss and I'll provide 👀 A second set of eyes on color palette, copy and overall content I'm spending the next few weeks going over business updates, so this project would likely kick-off in October/November. I expect it would be minimal hours/time. (My goal is this person is like, oh, everything is set up, this is easy, I can do this in my sleep.) Like every client ever, my budget is minimal, but I'd love to support a solo-preneur, or queer or minority-owned small business, but any and all recs are welcome. If you - or someone you know - would be willing to talk to me in the coming weeks about a quote, please let me know in the comments! https://tpfcontent.com/

Elaborated proposals have been a key for us to acquire clients. 🛠️ I’ll be investing about 6-8 hours this week working on a proposal for a rebranding and web development for a company in the tech space. 👨🏻💻 After talking to the client and their team, gathering info and a scope of work, I like to take time to provide a glance on what the brand could look like and create the vision for them within the proposal. This creates a greater understanding for them that we can do the work and excel at it. It creates a wow factor for them and I would say this has been a 90% winning process for us in recent years. 📈 A lot of times some of the visuals and copy we use within the proposal becomes a core part of the following development for the brand. Even if we don’t get the project, we win by learning more about the field we are doing the proposal for. Win - Win 👌🏼
