🔥 Substance Designer Quick-Tip: If you were looking for a way to make a procedural tilling wall, where you mix two different Patterns this is how you can do it: 🥇 Create 2 Tile Generators with a scale of 1, and a Random Value in Interstice x. Set the node to Max Mode and the Luminance Random to 0.5. Be sure each of them has different values in their X/Y. 🥈 Use a Blend node in Copy mode to mix these two patterns. Use a shape node connected to a Transform node which is set to "Not Tilling", and place the middle circle in the Lower edge of the image frame. 🔥This is how I create realistic materials in substance designer! 🚀 I split details in different areas of my materials. 🚀 I mask every noise and grunge I add to my graph. 🚀 I layer details based on color and surface erosion. 🚀 I always double-check by making stage renders. 🚀 I ask for feedback from someone with more experience. 💡 These are the 5 rules that helped me maintain quality in my artwork to create realistic materials. All of this came out of all the mistakes I made, this mistakes are opportunities to make a decision which will result in a learning experience! "It is not the mistake that teaches us, is what we choose to do after it that does it." 🤗 Learning Substance Designer is hard, learning how to do good art is harder, but learning to overcome ourselves to achieve our goals is the hardest task you will have to overcome. 💞 That is the main reason I share this stuff to help you when I had no one to help me. Are you struggling to get your fist job as animator in the industry? You send 100 plus application and not even a single interview? Been looking for a job for more than a year and you are demoralize because the industry is in a bad place? Listen here: -when i was 19 i study 2d animation for 3 years, after I graduate i could not get a job because objectively i was not good enough and 2d was getting replace by 3d - I then decide to learn 3d by my self because I had no more money to study with a school -I had to learn 3dsmax with a book because..well youtube didn`t exist yet -after 2 years of learning modeling, texture and rig i start to get some very small job as generalist that pay peanuts - I had to do other jobs not related to animation to get extra income -after 3 years of study by myself I enrolled to Animaiton Mentor -after 18 months i finish the school, send 80 plus email and no job because once again i was not good enough -got a private mentor to study 6-9 months and get a better reel, (all of this while still working a bit as non animator) and only after that I manage to get a job in my first AAA project was I the only exception? absolutely not. a lot of people struggle like me some give up, some persevere, some get a job sooner bottom line I think took me overall more than 6 years to get into the industry, plenty of mistake. is not easy now, it wasn't easy 15 years ago, yes times are different obviously, now you have a lot more resource, far more company making games or movie, more easy to connect.. but then a lot more competitions be an artist is hard, especially at the very beginning, my first teacher told me that. So I went all in with the model of Winchester and created a rig in Control Rig, animated the model in Unreal, rendered in Unreal..everything in Unreal. I have created a small Blueprint for the rifle to have more control in the Unreal sequencer.
