Don't just find a good company. Find a great leader. One truth I've learned: A great leader can create opportunities anywhere. But an average boss can hold you back, even at the best companies. 5 signs you have a leader, not just a boss: → They share the "why," not just the "what"  Making you smarter about the business  Connecting daily tasks to bigger goals → They're your champion behind closed doors  Fighting for your opportunities  Celebrating your wins with others → They trust, not micromanage  Giving you room to succeed (and fail)  Supporting your judgment calls → They invest in your tomorrow  Not just managing your work today Building your skills for future roles → They're your career partner  Building your path to what's next  Opening doors before you need them 🎯 Pro Interview Tip:  Ask where a manager’s former direct reports are now. Their answer can reveal a lot about how they develop talent. Great managers aren't just hard to find. # They're worth fighting to work with. Repost 🔁 to help others. This is one of the best resumes I’ve come across. I got permission to share this from one of my coaching clients. (personal details altered to protect their privacy/identity) They’ve landed 2-3 interviews each week for the last month. Good, high-paying companies on their target list. My client built this resume with Teal and here’s why it stands out: 1. Simple Format: Clean, easy-to-read layout. Recruiters and hiring managers appreciate resumes that get straight to the point. 2. No Fluff Summary: High-level overview of their background and major accomplishments, including a significant project they led and results that came from it. No jargon or fluff which is a big plus. 3. Company Descriptions Includes a one-line description for each employer. Especially helpful for lesser-known companies - instantly shows the scale and scope of their experience without making recruiters guess. 4. Measurable Impact: Results and numbers are included for each job. People can easily understand what kind of impact they've had on the business which is a must-have for a strong resume. 5. Strategic Keywords: You can’t see it, but they ensured their resume was optimized for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) using specific terms in the job description. 6. Balanced Skillset: Lists both technical and soft skills (leaning more on technical skills), ensuring a well-rounded profile that appeals to a variety of employers. They also used job descriptions to optimize this section. If you're struggling to get interviews or just looking for a good resume template, A well-crafted resume like this can help make a difference. Try the template here: https://tealhq.co/4aAEY2g --- 📌 In addition to being a job search coach, I’m also a part-time career advisor for Teal so if you have any questions about this resume from my client or their AI Resume Builder, let me know. The first question in nearly every job interview. Is also the question that trips up the most candidates. Master it with this simple 3-step framework: 1) Start with your current situation ↳ Briefly describe your current role and responsibilities ↳ Highlight recent achievements 2) Mention past experiences ↳ Link prior roles and skills to the job requirements ↳ Focus on experiences most relevant to the job 3) Talk about the future ↳ Explain why you're excited about the role and company ↳ Show enthusiasm and how it aligns with your career goals Tips for delivering your answer: - Keep it concise (1-2 minutes) - Avoid getting too personal - Tailor your response to the job description - Practice but avoid sounding rehearsed Remember to focus on relevant highlights, not your entire life story. Other versions of the question to look out for: ✓ "Walk me through your resume" ✓ "I'd love to hear more about your story" ✓ "Tell me a little bit more about your background" The cheat sheet also includes example answers. Save it to help you prep for your next big interview! Reshare 🔄 to help someone’s job search. And follow me for more posts like this.

A recruiter said I rambled too much in my interviews. I didn't like it but I appreciated the honesty. How this negatively affects interviews: → Can make you seem unfocused → You might miss the main point → Long-winded answers can bore the interviewer and cause them to disengage 7 strategies I used to cut down the rambling: (and get straight to the point) 1. Cheat Sheets Keep notes handy to jog my memory on certain stories, especially for common interview questions. 2. STAR Storytelling Organize answers using STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to ensure clarity and relevance. 3. Adopt the 'Rule of Three' Limit my points to three when responding. Our brains typically grasp three items most effectively. Example: "Three pivotal experiences that shaped my professional journey were X, Y, and Z..." 4. Embrace the Pause Allow moments of silence between my thoughts, understanding it's OK not to fill every second with words. 5. Minute Mastery Ensure my answers are between 60-90 seconds to stay concise and relevant. 6. Regular Practice Practice by recording myself (I recommend video to see your body language, hand gestures, etc.) 7. Pre-Plan Key Messages Before any interview, I'd identify core attributes or experiences I want the interviewer to remember. Example: For a marketing role, I'd prepare my talk track for 1) Campaign management 2) ROI-driven strategies 3) Cross-channel integration — Once you start doing these, your interview game will change for the better. And remember a detailed answer isn't bad, but it's important to ensure it doesn't become a rambling habit. ♻ Repost to help someone on their next interview And follow me for more posts like this.

You might deserve better. 10 signs it's time to move on: ☑ Toxic Environment & Poor Leadership ☑ Health Deterioration ☑ Pay Doesn’t Match Your Worth ☑ Growth Ceiling & Stagnant Learning ☑ Morning Dread ☑ Ethical Compromises  ☑ High Employee Turnover  ☑ Skills & Ideas Underutilized ☑ No Recognition or Feedback ☑ Work-Life Imbalance While these signs are important to recognize, quitting your job is a big decision. Before taking action, here’s my advice: 1. Reflect on your overall career goals 2. Consider if any of these issues can be resolved 3. Evaluate your financial situation 4. Explore internal transfer or role change options 5. Seek advice from mentors or people you trust 6. Start networking and updating your resume 7. Consider upskilling or additional education 8. Plan your exit strategy if you decide to leave Remember: Your well-being is crucial, but so is making informed decisions. Take time to assess your situation holistically before making a career move. ♻️ Share with someone who needs to see this today. And follow me for more posts like this. If you’re not confident in what you bring to the table, don’t expect others to be. Hiring managers can tell if you’re not confident. It often sets the tone of the interview. Here are 6 proven ways to boost your interview confidence (that actually work): 1. Research Like A Pro - Don't just skim the company's website. - Learn about their history, products, and values. - The more you know, the more confident you'll feel. 2. Master Nonverbal Cues - Nod your head and lean in to show engagement. - Make eye contact and smile. - Research shows 55% of our message is body language. 3. Structure Your Stories - Use the STAR Method. - Provide specific examples. - This can help make your answers compelling and memorable. 4. Use Positive Affirmations - Tell yourself you're confident and capable. - Positive self-talk is proven to work. - Pump yourself up before the interview. 5. Make it a Conversation - Don’t just think about what to say next. - Listen carefully to the interviewer's questions. - Show engagement by making thoughtful responses and asking follow-up questions. 6. Practice Makes Confident - Practice answers to common questions. - Role-play with a friend, mentor, or trusted peer. - You’ll be prepared and more relaxed on the interview day. Each of these strategies can boost your confidence. And help you create a positive, memorable impression. Reshare ♻ to help your network w/ their job hunt. And follow me for more content like this.

Your career path isn't meant to be perfect. It's meant to be yours. This truth hit home for me recently. We can start, stumble, pivot, and grow at any age. I know I have throughout the years. Some tips as you navigate your career: 1. Focus on skills, not age. 2. Network across industries. 3. Try side projects (this was big for me) 4. Learn something new weekly. 5. Embrace failure as learning. Questions to reflect on: ☑ What energizes you? ☑ What impact do you want to make? ☑ What skills do you enjoy using? ☑ Who inspires you and why? ☑ What would you do if fear wasn't a factor? And remember, Every step (even backward ones) shapes our journey. Anyone make a big career change? Would love to hear about it below. Reshare ♻ to help someone in your network. Surface-level research won't land you the job. Here's what top candidates actually research. As a hiring manager, I noticed candidates who aced their interviews researched things like: · industry trends · products (even signing up to use them) · customers · competitors · recent news · company history · the leadership team Almost every time the conversation was 2x better. They asked better questions. And were a lot more confident. Use this cheat sheet to help you do the same. And ace your next interview! --- 📌 Pro Tip: A tool like Perplexity can save you hours of research. Prompt it like ChatGPT and get answers in seconds. Example: "I'm interviewing for a job at Uber, can you tell me what products they have, who their leadership team is, and what the company's financial performance was for 2023?" --- Reshare ♻ to help your network w/ their job hunt And follow me for more content like this

The most powerful workplace perk? Doesn’t cost a dime. The most fulfilling workplaces are those where you feel genuinely valued. Being appreciated at work is NOT about: • Having a cool office space • Enjoying frequent happy hours • Getting free snacks and drinks Being appreciated at work is really about: • Being recognized for your efforts • Feeling your voice is heard • Experiencing genuine respect Want to find a job where you feel valued? Here’s how: 1. Research Phase ↳ Explore the company's website, employee reviews, and social media for signs of employee recognition and appreciation. ↳ Connect with current or former employees on LinkedIn to learn about workplace culture. 2. Application and Interview Phase ↳ Ask targeted questions about how the company values and appreciates its employees, and observe the interviewer's response. ↳ If visiting the office, notice the atmosphere, employee interactions, and visual cues of recognition. 3. Follow-Up and Reflection ↳ Assess the communication quality post-interview and reflect on whether the company's actions align with their stated values. Prioritize finding a workplace that truly values you. You’ll be… A lot happier. More productive. And find work more meaningful.

Time isn't just money. It's freedom. Here are 5 strategies to win back 5+ hours every week. 1. HIRE AN AI EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT 🤖 Let an assistant handle repetitive tasks like sorting emails, drafting responses, and notetaking. While you could hire a virtual assistant, I recommend FyxerAI which automatically organizes your inbox, drafts replies, and takes meeting notes at a fraction of the cost. 2. KEEP PROJECTS IN ONE WORKSPACE 📋 Minimize app-switching by keeping projects, notes, and to-do lists in a single workspace. While Notion is popular, I prefer AppFlowy as a cleaner, less cluttered open-source alternative where you can centralize tasks, notes, and project details. 3. THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE ⏱️ Boost your focus by breaking work into 25-minute intervals, followed by short breaks to maintain energy levels. Simply Google "Pomodoro Timer" to find free apps with customizable sessions and focus tracking. 4. BATCH SIMILAR TASKS TOGETHER 📥 Group similar tasks into dedicated time blocks. For example, set aside 30 minutes in the morning and afternoon for email, rather than checking constantly throughout the day. 5. THE "NOT TO-DO" LIST ❌ Identify tasks or activities that aren't essential or can be delegated, and add them to a "Not To-Do" list. This frees up your time to focus on high-impact work. The truth is your time is being stolen by poor systems. Not by lack of effort. Give these a try to get your time back. Repost to help others ♻ And follow me for more tips like these.
