We are so proud to announce that our leader, Kelliann Amico, has received the distinguished honor of being named to the PRSA College of Fellows, Class of 2023! This milestone achievement is held by fewer than three percent of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)'s members, underscoring the prestige of this status and her exceptional impact in public relations throughout her career. Join us in celebrating Kelliann for this esteemed, well-deserved accomplishment. #SeizeTheMoment #PRSA #prsacollegeoffellows #AspireHigher

  • This season, we're giving you a glimpse into the holiday traditions that make this season special for the people of Amico - from time-honored family customs to festive celebrations that continue to evolve. Here’s are a few of our favorite things to look forward to when this time of year rolls around: Kelliann - "Baked Alaska for our Christmas dessert. It started with our son’s love of ice cream combined with a fascination for covering ice cream with the deliciousness of meringue and then (gah!) inflicting the creation with heat!" Gregory - "Getting our Christmas tree on the day after Thanksgiving...we just went on our 20th straight post-turkey day tree adventure with our son." Michael - "Celebrating on Christmas Eve with my 103-year-old grandmother! My family has always combined a huge meal (curried crab dip, roast tenderloin and Yorkshire pudding) with opening presents on the 24th instead of Christmas day." - and - "For the past 20 years, I’ve gotten together with my high school friends for a game of holiday hoops...I love that we’ve kept the tradition going as people have had kids, moved out of town, had knee surgeries, etc." Stu - "Every December we break out a wooden advent calendar from my childhood for our kids to enjoy. Each morning, candy "somehow" appears in that day's drawer - perhaps a generous elf is to blame?" _____ What holiday traditions continue to endure for you and your family?

  • The best communicators share an essential trait: they lead with empathy. It's easy to craft a perfect message in our silos of familiarity, but effective communication requires us to step outside our own perspective. We should strive to understand not just what our audience thinks, but how they feel. What keeps them up at night? And, what makes them hopeful about tomorrow? In Oregon, where our communities are as diverse as our landscape, this matters more than ever. The concerns of a tech startup in Portland can feel worlds apart from those of a family farm in eastern Oregon. Yet, when we take the time to listen we will often find common ground. This is why every communication initiative must start with listening. Listening lends to understanding the emotional landscape of the community, which lends to communication that resonates. Where does empathy come into play in your line of work? We would love to hear your stories. #SeizeTheMoment

You know those offsites that last three hours but feel like one? That’s how it felt last week with Oregon public relations legend and fellow University of Portland alum Kelliann Amico, APR, Fellow PRSA and her amazing Amico team. The best team conversations aren’t complicated but have the right blend of purpose, energy, inclusion, and action. Purpose: Why are we here? Energy: Does everyone want to be a part of the discussion? Inclusion: Does everyone have the opportunity to share their thoughts? Action: Do we have a clear understanding of our immediate next steps? Thanks to Kelliann, Gregory, Stu, Michael, and Josh, for a wonderful conversation!

  • Quick PSA for marketing and social media folks: consider pausing your content calendar for tomorrow’s Election Day (and the day after) unless your brand is already synonymous with political discourse. 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘺: Your audience will be focused on Election Day results. No matter how brilliant your content is, it's competing with: • "I Voted" sticker selfies • Real-time election updates • Important civic discussions • Rejoicing or mourning the outcome Your Q4 campaign won’t fail because of a 48-hour pause. Showing this kind of awareness will build more brand equity than pushing out content that's bound to underperform. 💡Pro tip: Use this time to plan future content OR give your social team a much-needed breather! #SeizeTheMoment

California love. Kelliann Amico, APR, Fellow PRSA and Michael Mannheimer had a blast last week at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) ICON conference in Anaheim!
