  • Culture isn't just a buzzword—it's your business's immune system. In professional services, where success depends entirely on your team's performance, cultural alignment is non-negotiable.   Technical skills might get someone through your door, but their alignment with cultural standards determines their longevity. Leaders must demonstrate unwavering courage in addressing cultural violations immediately making exceptions only breeds toxicity. Every unaddressed issue—whether it's back-biting, missed deadlines, mediocrity, or trust violations—represents a leadership failure.   High-performing cultures are built through intentional action and unwavering commitment. When leaders protect cultural integrity, innovation thrives, collaboration strengthens, and client success becomes inevitable. Your team's behavior reflects your cultural expectations—or lack thereof. Excellence becomes the natural outcome when standards are clear and consistently enforced.   A great culture is founded on four pillars: 🔺 Genuine care for others 🔺 Unwavering accountability 🔺 Measurable outcomes 🔺 Relentless pursuit of excellence As the business leader, you set the tone. Remember: your team doesn't watch your mouth; they watch your moves. Every cultural violation you tolerate becomes the new standard you've accepted.   🔹 Key Takeaway: Your culture is either intentionally cultivated or accidentally allowed—there is no middle ground. As Keith Cunningham wisely notes, "Show me a lousy culture and I will show you a lousy leader." Want your culture to match your vision? Let's talk. – Coach Mike

  • Procrastination is often viewed negatively, but it can be a natural and beneficial part of time management. A recent survey of 20 Michiana Gen Z individuals found that procrastination is a common issue they experience. To address this, leaders and managers should help strengthen and create a well-functioning stress response. 🔺 Recognizing Procrastination is a natural human tendency, not inherently negative. It's a signal from our mind that something about the task is causing resistance. By acknowledging procrastination, we can understand its roots and address underlying issues. 🔺Positioning Procrastination can be positioned strategically within the time management process. Instead of viewing it as a barrier, consider it a pause for reflection and reassessment. This pause can provide valuable insights into how a task can be approached more effectively. 🔺Powering Through Procrastination can be a powerful motivator when harnessed correctly. By setting realistic deadlines and allowing for short periods of procrastination, a deadline-driven person can tap into a heightened state of productivity. 🔹 Takeaway: Employers can help Gen Z staff manage stress and procrastination, leading to a more productive and satisfied workforce. By recognizing procrastination, positioning it strategically, and using it as a source of motivation, individuals can transform it into a powerful tool for achieving their goals. • With good planning preparing for your long-awaited vacation away from the Michiana area doesn’t have to be stressful. Follow these steps for a smooth handoff and a relaxing break: 🎄Four Weeks Before: Inform colleagues and clients of your vacation dates. Designate a backup person, such as your top manager or a trusted colleague, to assist you while you’re away. Review your calendar and prioritize tasks to complete before you leave. 🎄Two Weeks Before: Define your work scope. Assign essential tasks to your backup. Create a handover document with projects and key contacts. 🎄One Week Before: Finalize your handover, involve your backup in meetings and emails, and schedule one-on-ones to clarify responsibilities. 🎄The Day Before: Draft an out-of-office message with your backup’s contact info, stating only urgent matters will be addressed. Such as: “I’m on vacation from [dates]. For urgent matters, contact [name] at [email]. Otherwise, I’ll respond upon my return.” 🔷Takeaway: With these steps, you can enjoy an stress-free vacation, knowing everything is well-managed in your absence. • Today, business owners and leaders have the chance to make a meaningful impact and establish a legacy. How you choose to do this depends on the person you see in the mirror. Dignity stands at the height of my values, and I passionately urge those around me to uphold it unwaveringly. Working with entrepreneurs at various stages, I'm most energized by those who understand that dignity is a universal currency—not something to be applied situationally. Here are a couple examples of workplace dignity: 🔷A bakery owner credits vendors publicly for quality ingredients. This dignity-based partnership led to exclusive supply agreements and better pricing. 🔷A construction company paid subcontractors weekly rather than monthly despite cash flow pressure. They now have first pick of skilled trades. 🔷Instead of outsourcing customer service, a software company invested in local team training. Customer satisfaction doubled within one year and referral sales increased by 35%. Recent challenges have highlighted negative shifts in business values: 🔷"Cash is king" has superseded "treat others as you wish to be treated". 🔷Personal success growth is reduced to trending balance sheet metrics, overshadowing daily personal development. 🔷Scarcity mindset prevails, ignoring the universe's unlimited abundant opportunities In small business, dignity in relationships with vendors and employees isn't optional—it's vital. Strong dignity principles create an ethical environment where trust flourishes and sustainable success follows. In small business, maintaining dignity with vendors and employees is vital. Dignity rules foster a respectful, ethical environment, building a culture of trust. This commitment drives success and sets a standard for ethical conduct. 🔺Takeaway: Dignity builds resilience. Building a legacy is a personal choice. Want a guide? Let's talk. -- Coach Mike P.S. Thank you for reading and sharing my thoughts and methods over the past two years. #ActionCoachOne #BusinessTip

  • One plus One equals Two. A simple truth that works into today's reality. Sure, while personal development matters – your goals, growth, and network – we are operating in an increasingly team-based world. Individual excellence is important, but collaboration accelerates success. And if you really want to crush it, you've got to mix that personal drive with some serious collaboration skills. Want to speed up and expand your success? Try these keyways: 1. Share Your Vision Stop working in isolation. When you communicate your goals clearly, you attract allies who can help you achieve them faster and more effectively. 2. Pass Around Your Resources Information and tools are meant to be shared. When everyone has access to the good stuff, trust grows, and magic happens 3. Welcome Different Perspectives The best solutions often emerge from diverse viewpoints. Like a professional kitchen producing exceptional and sometimes amazing results, innovation thrives when different ideas come together. Bottom line: Resist the instinct to go it alone. Collaboration multiplies results and creates better outcomes for everyone involved. Ready to build a stronger collaborative approach? Let's connect. – Coach Mike #Collaborate #BusinessTip #ActionCoachOne

  • Your team is growing but how do you handle employees not meeting the job? As a team focused leader this is one of the hardest things to address. Let’s assume you hired right and can check the boxes: clear core job responsibilities, performance expectations documented, peer engagement during the hiring process for cultural fit, and informal performance discussion haven’t led to improvement. But a challenging situation still exist, and the employee is not meeting expectations. Before giving up on your human investment and step towards termination, try a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) formal plan to improve employee performance when job expectations aren't consistently met. Here are couple thoughts to consider: 🔷The PIP would be a collaborative effort, not a punishment 🔷 Is there a clear path to improvement? You still believe in the employee and are ready to support their growth. 🔷Have outside resources and guidance looked at the situation? Look at a third-party input source. Consult with HR for objectivity and if a PIP is appropriate. 🔷Has regular routine performance management and check-ins existed? Providing feedback, coaching and clear goals? 🔷Have you look at explanatory circumstances that could be affecting them? Personal or health issues could contribute to underperformance. 🔷Are time considerations incorporated. A timeline for improvement is known and clear consequences if goals aren’t met are known. 🔺Takeaway: Remember that a PIP should be used as a constructive tool to help employees succeed, not as a mere formality before termination. The goal is to help the employee improve and meet job expectations. Need assistance? Let’s talk. -- Coach Mike #BusinessTip #EmployeePotential #Actioncoach
