The UK's OFSI has updated its FAQs to address the question: 'If a General Licence expires, can you still make payments to a frozen account of a Designated Person?' Is PMI the new CIC? And are there too many TLAs in our world? There's no overnight fix to the state and performance of the NHS, and if it ever recovers, there's the important matter of choice that PMI offers. I agree with Kyle Godden that we may (and should) end up with a three tier system, there is certainly room and need for lower-cost, more targeted PMI solutions (focusing on diagnostics and core benefits). But this also highlights the importance of advice for PMI too - with so many choices and the beartaps of moratoriums - there's a strong case for an advised broker model vs direct insurer. There are some amazing people leading the charge on the right conversations we need to have when it comes to Culture. Great opportunity today to chair a discussion with the People Leaders Forum as part of Change the Race Ratio around the importance of creating high performing workplace cultures that are representative. I am a great believer that the work to create equity and representation at all levels of an organisation starts with an honest assessment of the organisation culture and conditions and then more importantly having a wilful intent to do the work necessary to enable the right outcomes. It takes advocacy, engagement, accountability and leadership commitment to looking at systemic barriers - policies, processes and systems that drive behaviours. The real work is achieved when you focus on one or two things that will have the most impact - get it right and the organisation will do the rest. The financial services industry is facing a talent exodus. According to the @Financial Services Skills Commission, 250,000 people are projected to leave the sector by 2035. Recruiting a more diverse workforce, including individuals from different socio-economic backgrounds, will be critical to helping mutuals deliver on the commitment to double the size of our sector. I’m proud to see that a new report from Progress Together shows building societies are already leading the way in socioeconomic diversity. 47% of senior leaders and 57% of the wider workforce hail from low or intermediate socioeconomic backgrounds, higher than in the retail banking and asset management industries. I’m also proud to see that building societies including Nationwide Building Society, Yorkshire Building Society and Coventry Building Society are working with Progress Together through the Accelerated Progress Programme. This gives individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds access to learning and development opportunities, a mentor, and sponsors them for a secondment at another employer for six months. But there’s still more we need to do. Just some of the suggestions Progress Together is calling for include: -       Setting clear targets for socioeconomic diversity at senior levels -       Building and publishing a more complete dataset on the socioeconomic makeup of workforces and using this data to drive change across the industry -       Engaging recruitment firms to build more diverse candidate pools and offering leadership programmes for those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds Creating more opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to rise to the top isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s vital to our continued success and delivering on the ambitious growth targets we’re striving to achieve. Well said! Take a minute to read Allan Lerberg Jørgensen debunking a few common myths about sustainability due diligence I often come across when working with businesses and their sustainability strategies.   In this era of increased sustainability regulation, I believe that debunking myths like these are an important part of avoiding compliance fatigue.
