'I think this is the biggest shift that we marketers have possibly seen for quite some time.' - Tim Cameron-Kitchen Imagine your business navigating a landscape where traditional tracking methods are fading away. There's a layer of untrackability that's going to feel alien to most first-generation performance marketers. We can't rely on companies like Apple selling that data to us anymore, which means we're going to be flying a little bit blind. So, what can we do? The only thing we'll be able to do is focus on getting as much information out there into the world about our business on as many platforms as we possibly can. That way, when the next generation of language models are trained on the internet's data, they'll see loads of mentions of our business. They'll build up an understanding of what our business does, what it stands for, and who it sells to. Yes, it's a potentially very untrackable world, and it's a lot less linear to optimise for something like this because there's no single visibility algorithm that we can manipulate and reverse engineer, like there has been with Google. But here's the silver lining: By embracing this shift and spreading our message widely and authentically, we position ourselves ahead of the curve. As Prime Day approaches, here's our advice... Many brands find themselves reliant on Amazon for their performance on the deals page but the most successful deals are the ones consumers see first. So... 💭 How can you influence your product's position on the deals page? Amazon's deal teams hand pick and prioritise their own products and deals, often supported by the brands. The remaining deals up for grabs are typically ranked based on the product's sales velocity from the previous 7 days. Which makes strong sales in the week leading up to a deal period crucial to boosting your visibility during the event. **90%** of brands won’t make it to the top of the deal page because let's face it, consumers rarely scroll through endless deals 😴. . That said, keep in mind that many customers bypass the deals page completely and search directly for what they want instead. ❇ So make sure you have plenty of advertising budget to service your highly converting keywords during the event. ❇ And don't forget to lower your bids after the event! Spoiler alert... it's our work with AKT London! ✨ “From West End to Worldwide was one of my favourites, and the same for Tim Bond, the Associate Director at Ipsos. The reason I loved it so much is because it told such a great story of what great performance marketing is; it had a bit of everything: a scaling challenger brand, a real bit of data rigour using media mix modelling, and the fun element of influencer marketing mixed with paid media. Charlie Oscar did something very clever—they used MMM to actually measure the value of the influencers and the incremental value of that. What’s more important is they had a two-pronged strategy, which they used to inform their paid media strategy and where they should be investing in paid media. This created a feedback loop, resulting in a huge amount of sales for AKT. This is an example of a great branding idea paired with great performance, and that’s what performance marketing is about helping brands scale, whether you’re big or small.
