Looking forward to a productive day in Aberdeen today as we head towards the end of a frustrating week. This week's frustration? Audits. We get audited a lot. That's fine, and I see it as a clean bill of health when we pass, hopefully giving our clients reassurance that their initial due diligence was worth it. The question arises when somebody fails an audit for profiteering - what are the consequences? Is it immediate termination? A slap on the wrists? Or is it dealt with quietly and without consequence? There is also the case for companies not auditing forensically in fear of uncovering bad news. The recruitment industry can't improve if there are no consequences. Is it time to offer a remote option for Technical Superintendents? Recent feedback from clients, across the globe, highlights a persistent scarcity of Technical Superintendents in key locations, particularly Germany and The Netherlands. Experienced candidates across Europe are seeking new opportunities but are reluctant to relocate due to high living costs, accommodation challenges, and lack of support for moving. Technical Superintendents predominantly travel for their roles, so accessibility to airports from their current locations should outweigh concerns about physical office locations. Some clients have successfully onboarded remote candidates, breaking geographical barriers for talent acquisition. During the recent Pandemic, shipping and maritime companies had to adapt, and remote working was proven to be necessary and effective. DBS! Did you know you can add your DBS on to the Update Service for just £13 per year? This means your DBS is always accessible online and can be transferred between jobs, without the rigmarole of going through an application process again. It is a brilliant tool and in my opinion, more people should take advantage! It is especially beneficial within the Health & Social Care sector where DBS checks are compulsory when joining new companies. A poll I conducted with my clients earlier this year revealed that if they were conducting an interview process and were torn between candidates, 8/10 of them would go with the candidate with a transferrable and online DBS. Hi All, I want to personally introduce MRW Recruitment Ltd. As most of my contacts will know I have been in the insurance game for a long time. The business I currently head up is growing at a fast pace, and as such we have increasingly struggled to obtain good quality staff in all area's from handlers to Execs. So as a business we have developed non insurance personal into becoming some of the best candidates in the market. We have created a fast track scheme where we cultivate natural born sales people over a 6 month period which includes putting them through Cert CII and the importance of correctly designing business insurance. In addition we work with new candidates ideally suited to Account Handling / Claims Handling into the market giving them a two week intensive training course on the basics of insurance. This give them a understanding the importance of insurance, a overview of the market including insurers, MGA's and specialist schemes, Acturis system overview and what is and is not standard constructed building. Giving new entrants this information gives them a massive grounding into insurance and from there they can work with any company on refining and continued learning with any insurance brokerage. Testament to the above is when another brokerage a massive inflated wage to win relatively new people to their business. The above seems so easy to implement but no agency seems to offer anything other than poaching staff from one broker to another rather than cultivating from the wider pool. This could be down to brokers/insurers own scope. The reason why I am advocate for MSW Recruitment Ltd, is that they take the principles i hold dear in working with Non insurance professionals and offer courses to develop depending on the broker or Insurer requirements. The process is simple, they offer a selection of non professionals for a interview. The business will select and offer a position to the candidate.
