As 2024 comes to a close, we’re looking back on the significant impact of our Restorative & Family Services, which launched in February. This new service has generated a high number of self-referrals from survivors seeking a restorative process, addressing a range of serious traumas, including sexual violence, sibling and child sexual abuse, homicide, and familial harm. Within this service, we’re currently supporting 14 individuals, 7 of whom are engaging in restorative processes. The demand and complexity of these cases highlight the essential role of restorative services in the recovery journey for survivors, children, and families. Our Family Services extend our support to children, young people, and families, offering tailored interventions for sibling sexual abuse and harmful behaviours in family settings. We’re proud of our unique dual-status approach, which builds on our core values and aims to provide timely, robust support for those impacted by family-based abuse. As we look forward to 2025, we are committed to expanding this vital work to better serve families and survivors across Scotland. 💙 #ThrivingSurvivors #FamilyServices #RestorativeJustice #SupportAndEmpowerment #HealingJourney #TraumaRecovery

At Thriving Survivors, we know that supporting survivors means constantly evolving to meet their needs, especially as demand continues to rise. With 510 survivors currently on our waiting list, we are committed to finding new ways to reduce wait times and provide timely, compassionate support. We’re actively listening to survivor feedback to adapt our services. This year, we redesigned our Discovering Me programme, adding sessions on trauma’s impact on the brain, ensuring the support we offer resonates deeply with survivors’ experiences. As preferences shift toward online options, we’ve expanded our virtual support groups, creating accessible and comfortable spaces where survivors can connect and receive guidance. While the challenges are real, our commitment is stronger. With resilience, adaptability, and dedication, we are doing everything possible to ensure that every survivor feels heard, supported, and empowered. #ThrivingSurvivors #SupportAndEmpowerment #HealingJourney #CommitmentToCare #AccessibleCare

Over the past six months, Thriving Survivors has made remarkable strides in supporting trauma survivors on their healing journey. With over 2,160 mentoring sessions, we’ve offered individuals a safe space to rebuild, develop coping skills, and reclaim hope. 🌱 To meet the growing demand, we’ve expanded our team by adding five new mentors who bring empathy, resilience, and dedication to every session. Each new mentor means we can reach more survivors, offering support that is both compassionate and sustainable. Additionally, our Discovering Me programme has been revitalised with new content, helping survivors reconnect with themselves and grow with confidence. Early feedback shows this updated programme is making a significant difference in participants’ lives, guiding them towards a brighter future. 🌻 We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and look forward to continuing this essential work, empowering survivors every step of the way. #ThrivingSurvivors #SuccessStories #HealingJourney #TraumaSupport #DiscoveringMe #Empowerment

"Mr. A," a survivor of childhood abuse, came to Thriving Survivors during a difficult time, seeking support for severe anxiety and depression that had impacted every part of his life. At the start of his journey, even small tasks felt overwhelming, but with the help of compassionate mentoring, he began setting gradual goals and rebuilding his confidence, step by step. Through his work with a mentor who shared similar lived experiences, Mr. A felt truly understood and supported, which made all the difference. “I appreciated being listened to without fear of rejection,” he shares. “Mentors having lived experience helps, as you know what you’re going through.” Today, Mr. A is an active part of his community, embracing new opportunities and moving forward with hope and resilience. His story is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact that empathy, understanding, and support can have. #SurvivorStory #ThrivingSurvivors #HealingJourney #TraumaSupport #CommunityHealing

Today marks the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, observed in Canada as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. We honour the 14 women who lost their lives in this tragic act of gender-based violence, and we recommit to taking action to end violence against women everywhere. Let this day serve as a powerful reminder to stand together, challenge inequality, and advocate for safety and justice for all women. #MontrealMassacre #NationalDayOfRemembrance #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #NeverForget
