Today marks the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, observed in Canada as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. We honour the 14 women who lost their lives in this tragic act of gender-based violence, and we recommit to taking action to end violence against women everywhere. Our recommendations to the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women seeks to address: • The lack of coordinated action to improve the socio-economic conditions of women and gender-diverse persons that impact housing security. • The rampant human rights violations faced by Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people that contribute to inadequate housing and homelessness. • The need for federal housing programs and funding that are Indigenous-led and gender-responsive. • The lack of adequate income supports for women and gender-diverse people and their families. This submission was developed jointly with the National Indigenous Women's Housing Network, National Right to Housing Network, and the Women's National Housing and Homelessness Network. Today, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is a day to pause, reflect, and take meaningful action. On December 6, we remember the 14 young women whose lives were tragically taken in the École Polytechnique massacre in 1989. This event serves as a stark reminder of the gender-based violence that continues to affect women across Canada and the world. This day is not just one of remembrance; it is also a call to action. Gender-based violence is preventable. By listening, supporting survivors, and challenging harmful norms, we can create safer spaces for all women. Let’s use this day to commit to building a society where no one lives in fear because of their gender. Take a moment to reflect, and then act—educate, advocate, and support. Today, December 6th, is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada, commemorating the 14 women killed in the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre. It is a day to reflect on gender-based violence (GBV) and take meaningful action. In 2024, 169 women and girls have lost their lives to femicide in Canada, a devastating reminder of the ongoing crisis fueled by systemic biases and inequality. While we honour all victims of GBV today, we must also act. The workplace is a critical space to address GBV, as its impacts often extend to organizational well-being. How Workplaces Can Help? * Educate employees to recognize signs of GBV. * Implement clear policies to prevent and respond to violence and harassment. * Support survivors through resources and referrals. * Foster inclusive, respectful cultures. By confronting stereotypes and supporting survivors, we can create safer workplaces and communities. Let’s work together to end GBV and build a future of equality and safety for all. https://lnkd.in/eiRg-2Yx #Dec6 #EndGBV #NationalDayofRemembrance #WorkplaceSafety #GenderEquality #PsychologicalSafety #RememberMe

On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we must all come together and act now to end gender-based violence. In Canada, some women—such as Indigenous, racialized, low-income women, and women with disabilities—are disproportionately impacted by intersecting factors that increase their risk. Let’s unite to build a safe, equitable future for all.

We are exhausted, we are angry, we are afraid. Last month alone, twelve Australian women were *allegedly murdered by men. Men’s use of violence against women in this country is pervasive, dangerous and urgently requires action. To the men reading this: ask yourself what role you’re playing or can step up to play in ending violence against women. Have those difficult conversations about respect, equality, violence and gender. These conversations are long overdue. And to our government - we need more action, more funding, and less token, empty gestures. #NeedsBasedFundingNow #VAWG #Femicide ID: Twelve women were killed by men* in April. That’s 12 femicides in one month. We have lost 35 Australian women to violence in 2024. Violence against women is a national crisis in this country. We have lost 35 women to violence this year so far, twelve just in the month of April. We need action. And we need it now.

On this International Women's Day, let's acknowledge the stark reality that many women face: the threat of violence and assault. We must stand in solidarity with survivors, offering support, amplifying their voices, and demanding justice. It's imperative that we address the systemic issues that perpetuate this violence and hold perpetrators, including rapists, accountable. Let's work together to create a world where all women are safe, respected, and empowered. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #internationalwomensday

Today is 25th November. In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly declared 25th November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to draw attention to the violence women face in their homes, on the streets, at school, and in the workplace, and to raise awareness in society about combating violence against women. Such awareness days remain meaningful and beneficial as long as these issues persist. We envision a world without violence, where awareness days are unnecessary, and we commit to being part of a decent solution. 25th November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women #Procat #25November #SayNoToViolenceAgainstWomen #AtProcatWeStand #EmpoweredWomen
