Let us paint you a picture: During a presentation at Sony’s research centre, employee, Ken Kutaragi, was amazed by 3D computer graphics and wanted to bring them to the video game industry. Sony then made a deal with Nintendo to develop a CD add-on for the SNES called “PlayStation”. They announced this deal during the 1991 Consumer Electronics Show. However, Nintendo announced a separate deal with Philips for their own add-on. As a result, Sony went on to develop their console - PlayStation. Henceforth, in this episode, we answer: How did the PlayStation come about? How did it become the market leader today? And what will the future of PlayStation hold? Join us for the final episode of our three-part ‘Console Wars’ series, ‘Console Wars: PlayStation’ now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Let us paint a picture for you: After the successful release of the PlayStation console in 1994, Sony had shaken up the console market, posing a threat to rivals, Nintendo and Sega. But this threat was being felt beyond the console market. With their new console, Sony was threatening the PC market. Microsoft, the leaders of the PC market, wanted to mitigate this threat and so, the development of a new console began - Xbox. What was Microsoft’s journey into the console world like? How did they develop the Xbox? And what does the future of Xbox hold? Join us for the next instalment of our three-part ‘Console Wars’ series and for our latest episode, ‘Console Wars: Xbox’ now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Picture this: The year is 1983. The video game industry is experiencing a recession, plagued by console saturation and rife with poor-quality games. The industry's future appears bleak until one company steps in, single-handedly reviving the market. Today, this resurgence has led to a global market size exceeding $200 billion. That company is none other than Nintendo! But how did Nintendo come to the industry’s rescue? How did it dominate the industry back in their prime? And what path will the company take in the future? Join us for our three-part ‘Console Wars’ series and for our latest episode, ‘Console Wars: Nintendo’ now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. In our recent episode, ‘Yapping Session - Part 2’, we delved into the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and shared our excitement about its marketing campaign. To celebrate the upcoming launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ubisoft Forward on June 10th, Ubisoft and Biborg have crafted a unique ‘First Mission’ experience for content creators and their audiences. A select group of content creators received a mysterious box from Ubisoft, featuring an intricate lock that could only be opened by completing a series of puzzles and challenges on Discord. This immersive simulation mirrors core gameplay mechanics of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, where protagonists Naoe and Yasuke must uncover and eliminate their targets. Players will get to experience this when the game releases on 12th November. After solving all the puzzles to help Naoe and Yasuke find their targets, participants were asked to tune into Ubisoft Forward to see the culmination of their efforts in the gameplay trailer (the elimination of the targets). What a brilliant and engaging way to captivate the Assassin’s Creed community and generate hype for Ubisoft Forward. Kudos to the creative minds behind this experience! #marketing #videogames #ubisoft #ubisoftforward #assassinscreed #assassinscreedshadows #marketingcampaign

Despite our concerns with how this episode would turn out, we really enjoyed it as it gave us room to talk about smaller topics and more personal topics. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to release another one. So join us for another improvised episode where we discuss Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, revisit Apple’s controversial Apple iPad advert and more. In preparation for the upcoming general election, the Labour Party has taken to social media to create content as part of their campaign. Unfortunately, their content hasn’t faired as well as they would’ve liked… One post, for instance, mocked the current prime minister and the Conservative Party, in an attempt to be comedic and perhaps appeal to younger voters. However, the responses to this post were quite negative, with people questioning the professionalism of this political party. In episode 11, ‘Is Social Media Marketing Entering a New Age?’ we mentioned that this type of social media marketing is appropriate for only some businesses and groups. It seems that the Labour Party is not one of them… #politics #marketing #socialmedia #socialmediamarketing #election #podcast
