Making memories come alive through #AI: Seniors can now turn their reminiscences of the past into books and videos that they can easily share with their family and friends. This innovation, a #GenAI app called MemoryLane, is developed by #NTUsg Nanyang Business School alumnus Jason Tan. In conceiving the idea, Jason combined his expertise in data science and artificial intelligence with a heartfelt personal experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Observing his father’s feelings of isolation, Tan created a chatbot to help him talk about his memories. Called "Reminiscence Therapy", research has shown that the process of reminiscence can help seniors stimulate their cognitive functions and gain confidence about their past. The positive emotional impact he saw in his father inspired Jason to develop MemoryLane. Jason underwent the NTU Entrepreneurship & Startup Training (NEST) programme and eventually secured a S$10,000 Multi-Disciplinary Team Fund. MemoryLane recently completed a pilot study at St Luke's ElderCare Active Ageing Centre @ Northshore successfully and is now being rolled out in partnership with other homecare organisations. NTU Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NTU I&E) reposted this
Filling the sails of entrepreneurs is the newly launched NTU Innovation Port. Aimed at supporting budding entrepreneurs and accelerating the commercialisation of technologies, the facility will be a collaborative space for the #OneNTU community, innovators, and industry partners to explore business opportunities, discuss challenges, form teams, and build prototypes. Boot camps and training workshops will also be held regularly at the Port to foster and launch more #NTUsg spin-offs and start-ups. Housed at two locations, the Arc and Gaia learning hubs, the Port will also be a one-stop-shop for industry partners seeking to engage in research collaborations with the University or license its technologies. The launch ceremony held at the Arc was graced by Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr Alvin Tan, who was welcomed by NTU Vice President (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) Prof Louis Phee. Among the start-ups and teams who showcased their innovations at the event was Kookree, which unveiled their #GenerativeAI technology to the public for the first time. Their #genAI technology allows the creation of realistic video clips on par with some of the major players in the market. https://lnkd.in/gPCh7tGQ #NTUsgInnovation #NTUsgEntrepreneurship #NTUsgSmartCampus #AIatNTUsg
