💾 What exactly is a #hackathon? 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 A 𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 is an event, typically lasting several days, where people collaborate to engineer a solution to a problem, build or improve software (or an app), or simply get together to identify new opportunities. The word hackathon is a portmanteau of the words 𝒉𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒓, which means clever programmer, and 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒏, an event marked by endurance. Hackathons usually last more than one day. 💾 Check out the hackathon offered by the BioMed X Institute at the end of August, in #Heidelberg. 💾 The event is free of charge, but registration is required. You can register here: https://lnkd.in/eaSHZCFH. #HackathonAlert #ComputationalBiology #BioModels

🎉Thrilled to Share Our Journey at Weihack 5.0!🚀 I’m excited to announce that alongside my brilliant team member, Anshika Arora, we participated in the renowned hackathon, Weihack 5.0, a 36-hours long women centric hackathon conducted by BVPIEEE, which witnessed participation from over 1800 teams nationwide. It was a rollercoaster of coding, collaboration, and creativity, and I’m proud to say that our team, Encoders, made it to the top 50!🏆 It was my first hackathon, and the experience was exhilarating. The event was a melting pot of ideas, where we not only honed our technical skills but also learned the importance of teamwork and perseverance. Our project aimed to create a safer world for women, travelers, and students by developing a website that predicts high-risk areas and suggests the safest travel times, while also providing historical crime data to inform users of potential dangers. The challenge was immense, but so was our passion for making a difference. Though we didn’t clinch the top spot, the hackathon was a win for us in so many other ways. We got to learn about the power of data analytics in real-world applications and the impact of technology on social issues. We experienced the excitement of turning a concept into a tangible product. We are not stopping here, the journey continues. We are dedicated to enhancing our project, refining its features, and improving its effectiveness. Stay tuned as we’ll be sharing the final version of our project soon. #Weihack5 #Hackathon #WomenSafety #DataAnalytics #Teamwork #Innovation

Looking for suggestions (people, sites, etc) for teaching virtual worlds creation tech to wide range of ages, etc. Primary goal is to teach local (maui, hawaii, usa) folks how to build worlds to show history and future of the county... digital twin, bring myths to life, recreate lost historical sites, etc. DM or comment. Thanks This is a follow on to my Envision Lahaina and Visions of Lahaina Past and Future. The latter is an installation idea using project video of various story worlds. The former includes a website to which people can upload buildings and put them onto maps. Here is a video of a prototype of such a website created for me by some very good UHawaii students at a hackathon last fall... https://lnkd.in/gTvRn-Ac

Hello World! I was all set for a tennis tournament, but somehow ended up at HackRice 14 instead. That’s just how life goes sometimes! Here’s how I turned a weekend of coding into something exciting and built an awesome project with my team. First of all, I’m a big fan of computer vision, and when the tracks were released for the hackathon, I immediately knew we had to do something meaningful that could help others. At that moment, I remembered my friend, who has played golf and tennis for more than 50 years! Recently, he had his knee replaced with an artificial one. As the body tends to reject anything artificial, his knee became very stiff, requiring lots of exercises and stretches to help him start walking normally again. We connected this issue with AI and computer vision and built software that motivates, guides, and tracks users to perform the correct exercises for faster recovery without needing additional help from a doctor. Thank you, Google, MediaPipe is such a cool library to work with. Using my friend as an example, the software would show him how to perform knee exercises for faster recovery and better body adjustment. Fun fact from Google: "About 790,000 total knee replacements and 544,000 hip replacements are done every year in the U.S." Big and fun project. I enjoyed every minute for the last 35 hours working on this project. Big thanks to my teammates Italia Gutierrez and Vivian Chavez, you worked hard and did a great job! Thank you HackRice - amazing hackathon! Learn about more about our project: 1. Github - https://lnkd.in/gDjNcv9d 2. Devpost - https://lnkd.in/gwUWddHt P.S. yes, my friend liked the soft after we tested out with him today) This is my personal victory. 🎊 Delighted to share that I recently participated in a Hackathon: VHACK hosted by Volvocars🎊. Our Team opening presentation slide said: "Hackathon is a chance to Think Big and create something Amazing - Drew Houston". As per above saying, would like to share that it was actually an incredible experience where I collaborated with the talented team to tackle the problem statement given to us and successfully derived towards the amazing solution. It was the 2 day coding event followed by the presentation on the final day (3rd day) of the hackathon. There were 6 teams in total and 3 challenging problem statement. Together, all the teams brainstormed, coded and presented innovative solutions to the problem statement in front of the Jury. There were certain pre-defined parameters on which the team had to give the presentations on. It was 2 days thrilling experience with non-stop coding. Grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with the fellow enthusiasts in the tech community. 🙂 Here is to many more hackathons and collaborations in the future! ✨ #hackathon #innovation #innovate #automation #participation #hackathonexperience
