Lauren Bushnell Says 'Bachelor' Ex Ben Higgins Never Had Her 'Whole Heart'

Lauren Bushnell confirmed her new relationship with country music singer Chris Lane in November

Lauren Bushnell has completely moved on from her ex Ben Higgins — and she says that he never had her “whole heart.”

On Wednesday, the former Bachelor contestant, 29, shared a sweet Instagram post of herself with new boyfriend Chris Lane. Bushnell captioned the photo of the two lovebirds posing outside “my whole heart.”

According to Entertainment Tonight and E! News, an Instagram user commented on Bushnell’s photo, writing, “Haven’t your last 3 boyfriends been your whole heart?”

“Honestly no,” Bushnell reportedly responded. “I mean that’s the truth. Lol looking back now that I know what it’s supposed to feel like — they did not I just wanted them to.”

The comments appear to have since been deleted.

Bushnell and Lane confirmed their relationship in November after they appeared together at the 66th annual BMI Music Awards in Nashville.

“It’s brand new and they are enjoying spending time together,” a rep for Lane told PEOPLE at the time.

However, they quickly realized how much they cared about each other, as Lane, 34, told PEOPLE in December that she was heading back to his home town of Kernersville, North Carolina, to meet his parents, and his song “Take Back Home Girl” was starting to become a real-life story.

“When I released that song, I did not realize I would end up meeting somebody that I cared so much about,” he said. “I’ve been so career-focused and career-driven that I haven’t put a whole lot of time into trying to find a relationship. It just hasn’t been my mindset.”

In March, the couple moved in together in Nashville.

“Lauren moving to Nashville has been the best thing for our relationship. It’s been such an easy transition and she makes each day even better,” Lane told PEOPLE exclusively. “There is nothing like waking up next to the person I love, going about my day — working out and working on music — and then coming back home to her! I’m a lucky guy.”

Meanwhile, Higgins, 30, recently went public with his new girlfriend, Jessica Clarke.

“I’ve been selfishly keeping this girl to myself for too long! Hey friends meet @jessclarke_! I successfully slid into her Dm’s a few months ago. I took a risk and I am glad I did,” the former Bachelor captioned a photo of himself and Clarke in February.

She is someone special, and I look forward to where life is going to take us,” the Generous Coffee co-founder continued. “Stay tuned for the journey.”

In May 2017, Higgins and Bushnell called it quits on their more than year-long relationship, saying in a statement at the time that “we wish nothing but the best for each other.” Two months after the pair ended their engagement, Bushnell began dating Devin Antin. Just over a year of dating, they went their separate ways.

Following his split from Bushnell, Higgins said, “I’m sad. I’m a little confused, a little lost, but I’m doing all right.”

In June, Bushnell opened up about why she and Higgins broke up during an interview with Reality Steve.

“I honestly don’t think there was one main reason,” she said. “I don’t necessarily think at the end of the day we were the most compatible.”

“It wasn’t this bad blood situation or blow-up fight — it’s nothing I can really pinpoint,” she continued. “It just came down to compatibility.”
