Kim Petras Tears Up at Sold-Out Brooklyn Concert: 'This Is Where Everything Started'

Kim Petras enjoyed a homecoming of sorts when she took the stage in N.Y.C. on Monday.

In town for her Feed the Beast World Tour, the "Unholy" singer, 31, played an electric set at Brooklyn Mirage in Bushwick, making her way through her already prolific catalog.

As she performed tracks from her various projects (including Feed the Beast and the newly released Problématique, as well as her Slut Pop EP and Turn Off the Light Halloween album) Petras reminded the crowd why she's one of the most exciting acts in pop music today.

The Grammy winner proved her impressive range and live performance prowess as she seamlessly went from throbbing dance-pop and techno, to disco-funk and bubblegum, showing off all sides of her personality — sexy and silly; quirky and edgy; hedonistic and camp — along the way.

Toward the end of her high-octane set, the "Heart to Break" singer got emotional, recounting her Bushwick gay-club roots.

"Thank you so much, Brooklyn. Bitch! Why has it been this f---ing long?" Petras told the crowd, tearing up onstage. "Anyway, I'm glad I'm f---ing here. Thank you so much for coming. You guys sold out the show, and I'm so f---ing grateful. It means the absolute world to me. It's really sad that we're almost at the end of the set, and I wish I could stay forever. I just love you so much! This is where everything started."

Petras' Feed the Beast World Tour is her latest feat in an already impressive year, following the release of her major-label debut album and historic night at the Grammys, where she and "Unholy" collaborator Sam Smith became the first transgender and non-binary artists, respectively, to win for best pop duo/group performance.

“I’m really pushing myself to my limit. I’ve done this for a long time but never on this level,” she told PEOPLE this summer. "The stage is the only place where I really feel like I belong. I feel successful whenever I’m onstage selling out a venue, and that’s what I want to do forever . . . But the Grammy is nice to have too!”
