Taylor Swift is in awe of her fans!

During her Eras Tour stop in New Orleans on Friday, Oct. 25, the singer, 34, shared her pride at the "joy" her fans have brought to her tour and recalled the first time she saw Swifties trade friendship bracelets at her shows, in what has become a signature practice among audiences.

In a video posted on a fan account on X (formerly Twitter), Swift told fans, “You’ve created traditions. You’ve created this mass movement of joy every time we play a show. And it makes me so proud, it really does."

“I just showed up one day and you guys were trading friendship bracelets and I was like, ‘that’s cool’ — and now there is a giant friendship bracelet on the outside of this stadium,” she said, referring to the giant friendship bracelet displayed on the outside of the Caesars Superdome, marking her tour's arrival there.

“Which is so nice of them to do for us — but it's even nicer of you guys to create things that went so far beyond what I ever expected for this tour,” Swift concluded as the crowd cheered.

Friendship bracelets have become a staple among Swift fans at her Eras Tour shows, which began in March 2023. Swifties took it upon themselves to create the beaded bracelets with titles and lyrics from her music and wear them at the show, where they also swap them with other fans.

The accessory was inspired by a lyric from Swift’s 2022 song “You're On Your Own, Kid," where she sings, "Everything you lose is a step you take / So make the friendship bracelets / Take the moment and taste it / You've got no reason to be afraid."

Taylor Swift fans, also known as "Swifties", show off their friendship bracelets gather outside Accor Stadium for Taylor Swift's first Sydney concert on February 23, 2024 in Sydney, Australia. Taylor Swift's global Eras Tour has been a cultural and economic phenomenon, breaking records and generating billions of dollars in revenue. With its massive scale and fan frenzy, the tour has cemented Swift's status as one of the most influential pop stars of the 21st century, and its impact is likely to be felt for years to come.

The friendship bracelets have also been rocked by celebrities attending Swift’s shows after receiving them from fans, including Selena Gomez, Halsey, Lupita Nyong'o, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Lance Bass and Blake Lively.

Swift’s bestie Lively, 37, and her husband Ryan Reynolds came out to watch her perform at her New Orleans show on Friday. Actor Josh Hutcherson was also at the concert, as seen in a video posted by a concertgoer on X.
