About 16 years after releasing her last album, Simpson is gearing up for her long-awaited return to music and seemingly teased the "comeback" by sharing photos of herself in a recording studio to Instagram on Nov. 11. "Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic," the 44-year-old singer and entrepreneur wrote in the post's caption. "This comeback is personal," added Simpson, "It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve." In September, Simpson spoke to PEOPLE about her eponymous brand's fall/holiday 2024 clothing and shoe collection and how she drew inspiration from dressing for the studio as she makes new music in Tennessee. "If I dress the part of what I am feeling artistically I am better able to express myself in the words and music I am writing," she said at the time. "It’s like a retreat for me. I get to just crawl up inside my head and embrace my heart," said Simpson of living and creating music from Tennessee at the time. "I feel so enlightened there." "Writing music has become a beautiful therapeutic thing for me that I didn’t know was so natural, but it’s because I haven’t done it in so long," she told the outlet, noting that she'd written over 400 poems throughout 2023. "It’s just nice to know that I’m meeting myself back in this place, as a woman, and after going through everything that I’ve been through in my life," continued the former Newlyweds star. I am ready to share a lot that has happened in my life since that book was published, including an artistic journey and return to music inspired by pain and betrayal as well as beauty and forgiveness," she said in a press release at the time. "I am looking forward to reconnecting and sharing my heart with all those who might need it in the hope that we can inspire each other and move forward on our parallel journeys," said Simpson. Close
