Statue City Cruises is bringing greener #ferry transit to New York Harbor routes servicing the iconic Statue of Liberty and Ellis Islands with the #hybridization of their fleet. Statue City Cruises, part of Hornblower Group's City Experiences portfolio, selected Corvus Energy battery systems to integrate onboard their fleet of nine ferries currently in operation. The first plug-in #hybrid #electric inland #towboat in the United States, the Kirby Green Diamond, is powered by an Corvus Energy #marine #batterysystem. The hybrid towboat is anticipated to reduce fuel use and CO2 emissions by 27% without shore charging. With shore charging, fuel use can be reduced by up to 80%, which would result in an 88%-95% reduction in emissions of NOx, CO, and HC. #CorvusEnergy is pleased to have supplied the #battery system onboard this groundbreaking vessel, working jointly with owner/operator Kirby Inland Marine, LP, electrical integrator Stewart & Stevenson, and other partners.
