More TRAnsverse's on the way... #news #maritimenews #navalarchitects #marineengineers #robertallanltd
We are thrilled to announce that we’ve signed a contract with Hong Kong shipyard, Cheoy Lee Shipyards Lee to build four new Svitzer TRAnsverse 2900 tugs - for delivery in 2026. The TRAnsverse tug was designed by Svitzer in collaboration with naval architect, Robert Allan Ltd. The four TRAnsverse tugs are 29 meters long, with bollard pull of up to 80 tonnes, top speed of 13 knots, and 8 knots side-stepping, and a few impressive capabilities that are characteristics of the TRAnsverse tug such side-pushing, significantly higher steering and braking forces compared to similarly sized ASD tugs, and reduced fuel consumption. Commenting on the agreement, Kasper Karlsen, our Chief Operating Officer, said: “This order enables us to continue renewing our fleet to deliver on our customers’ needs and our decarbonisation targets, while providing a strong basis for engaging in growth projects. The new TRAnsverse tug will undoubtedly be our preferred design going forward and with even more of these tugs in our fleet, we are able to continuously improve operational capabilities and fuel efficiency to the benefit of our customers as well as the environment.” The first TRAnsverse tug was delivered in September 2024 and is now proudly operating in the Port of IJmuiden/Amsterdam. https://lnkd.in/dDAtShzP Photo credits: Peter Maanders

As a leader in escort tug design, ensuring escort performance and safety requirements will be met is fundamental to the design process for any new Robert Allan escort tug. For this reason, we are pleased to announce that Brendan Smoker has taken on the new role as Manager, Escort Tug Performance. Brendan has overseen over 300 CFD-based escort predictions completed since 2015 that are now routinely accepted by major marine classification societies as the basis for granting escort notation. In his new role, Brendan looks forward to liaising with shipyards, operators, Class, port authorities and other stakeholders on the broader topic of how escort tug performance & operations relate to their specific goals and interests. #announcement #robertallanltd
