5 years ago, Data protection was something that was new to our vocabulary, now compliance has become the norm. Mercy Liani Widava, Danson Wainaina and I represented poa! internet as the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner celebrated 5 years since the enactment of the #DataProtectionAct. The key take away was that though we have made strides, there is still more to be done to ensure compliance and oversight and this can only be achieved through continuous collaboration, capacity building and sharing of best practices. Compliance is also a collective responsibility, therefore everyone within an organisation bears the responsibility of ensuring compliance. #complianceiskey #datagovernance #dataprivacy
