As technology moves forward being a enabler to the differentiator/ value creator, some points mentioned here are very relevant to consider. 1. Transformation is a continuous progress. It is still hard to convince large enterprise IT functions to bring engineering and operations under one umbrella so that the IT can be run without #technologydebt. (Still there are many who call version upgrade as a transformation project) 2. Competitive IT vs commodity IT. There is no tangible return in investing to build solutions for common functions, just implement the industry practices with standard packages. Looks at those business processes that create true business differentiation in the market and look at strategic investments in technology. 3. IT becoming the partner to business. This requires truly deep understanding on how the business makes money, what are the enablers and what are the challenges. This interview of Mr. C. Sivasankaran, one of India's finest thinkers and ace businessmen, by Mr. Raj Shamani, one of my favourite YouTubers, is a great learning resource for all of us. I am thankful to both of them for great interview. I was one of the beneficiaries/ user of Mr. Sivasankaran's Aircel telecom service provider's service. Aircel's very small denomination recharge voucher of Rs.14 for 3 days unlimited internet was poor man's cow to me as we didn't have today's cost effective mobile combo plans at that time. I used to recharge with Rs.14 voucher for unlimited internet, most importantly for downloading big softwares from official websites of Microsoft, Oracle, etc. But unfortunately, Mr. Sankaran's one mistake put my old man's cow to an end. He has discussed that issue here. Apart from that, there are many lessons we can learn from this interview. I am sure that Mr. Sivasankaran's new venture of bio hacking or wellness will make a road to his comeback. All the best to him. Ace thinkers never stop their journeys and they continue to benefit large masses. And this is happening with Mr. C. Sivasankaran too.

Though a bit dated book , I had fun reading Hit Refresh - Satya Nadella over the weekend . This book is a genuine attempt by Satya Nadella to share this point of view on how large corporations ( Microsoft and others) eventually gets burgeoned with its own weight and how a fresh way of thinking and rediscovering the corporate soul together gives back returns way more than any tech / financial investment could. At a personal level his love of cricket , experiences across India ( North / South ) growing up , pull and push of intellectual / spiritual parenting, Immigrating to US and experiencing capitalism and his love for family felt like I was reading my own life backwards.. Leaders like Satya rising through the rank and file of Microsoft to the top position should be a reminder to every one that Success is not overnight .. success comes to ones who are life long learners and some one who can identify his purpose greater than him/herself in the journey.. I liked his focus on empathy to customers , employees and society in general and I feel that’s a very distinctive difference leaders can bring in today’s world . He also took the topic of AI , jobs replacement and the fear factor on their face value and told us that its only through technology diffusion ( adoption) and leveraging technology in a more wholesome way to enable local entrepreneurship can we avoid the impacts ..
