A global network of universities for education in human rights and democracy
The Global Campus of Human Rights is an inter-disciplinary centre of excellence supported by the EU. We strive to promote human rights and democratisation through higher education, specialised training programmes, research and outreach. We do it worldwide through our broad network of member universities.
We have a presence in seven regions of the world: Africa, Arab World, Asia-Pacific, Caucasus, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, South East Europe. Our regional headquarters in Pretoria, Beirut, Bangkok, Yerevan, Buenos Aires, Sarajevo/Bologna, and are coordinated by our main office in Venice, Italy.
Universities
The result of joint efforts by one hundred prestigious universities, the Global Campus represents a unique example of worldwide inter-university cooperation in human rights and democratisation.
Mission & Vision
To foster new generations of human rights defenders contributing to a world in which human dignity, equality, freedom, security, sustainable development, democracy and the rule of law are realised.
Annual Report 2023
The Report provides insights on the achievements of our 8 regional Master’s programmes, common activities and research outlets, and the continuation of their efforts to build capacity and raise awareness on human rights and democracy around the world.
Governance
Our Statute sets out the governance structure of the network and the functions of its primary governing bodies, the Global Campus Assembly, Global Campus Council, the President and Vice-Presidents and the Secretary General. Additional bodies are in charge of specific activities.
Partners
The EU is the lead donor of the Global Campus. We have also signed cooperation agreements with major international organisations and other key actors in the field of human rights. In 2019 we entered a long-term partnership with the Right Livelihood Foundation on strengthening children’s rights.

Despite studying in disparate locations there is strong bond that we all share through our common belief and passion for the human rights movement. With spaces for civic activism diminishing, now more than ever, we need to maximize our potential and build strong and dynamic connections like in the Global Campus of Human Rights.
