What do you do if your financial resources are limited in IT Outsourcing?
When financial resources are limited in IT outsourcing, strategic decision-making is crucial. Prioritize critical business needs to maximize value while minimizing costs. Opt for selective outsourcing services aligned with objectives. For example, in automotive or industrial sectors, outsourcing non-core IT functions like inventory management or supply chain optimization can streamline operations cost-effectively. Embrace flexible collaboration models such as project-based or task-specific outsourcing. Leverage affordable technological solutions like cloud services and open-source software. Optimize investments for maximum returns and efficient digital transformation.

Airbus awarded German Armed Forces prime contract for military communications satellite system Germany’s armed forces, the Bundeswehr, has awarded Airbus the SATCOMBw 3 prime contract for the next generation secure military satellite system which includes geostationary satellites as well as ground segment, launch and operation for 15 years. The spacecraft are due to be deployed before the end of the decade and the contract value amounts to €2.1 billion. Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, said: “After the success of the SATCOMBw Stage 2 programme, which we have been delivering since 2009, this latest contract reinforces our strategic partnership with the Bundeswehr, providing them with a greatly enhanced secure milsatcom capability that is future proofed into the 2040s. At a time when Western democracies are challenged and where the European institutional space ecosystem is struggling, we are excited and grateful to develop and build this leading-edge system. Long term partnerships are crucial to guaranteeing essential sovereignty and capability, and protecting our armed forces in the increasingly unstable geo-political environment.” The contract covers the design, integration, test and in orbit delivery of two new Airbus built military GEO telecommunications satellites which are the successor communications satellites to COMSATBw 1B and 2B. It also includes upgrading of the existing ground segment to operate the new satellites as well as operational services for 15 years, with the possibility of extension. The new generation Airbus satellites are based on the Eurostar Neo platform and will weigh around 6 metric tons. They will have extensive capabilities to keep pace with the rapid changes in digitalisation and the constantly increasing volume of data transfer required. They will also feature the latest state of the art technologies. A key element of the overall contract is an in-depth German value chain involving partners such as Bremen-based OHB and numerous smaller German companies. Central elements including the guidance and integration of the advanced payloads, the solar arrays and overall operation of the spacecraft will be from Germany. The Bundeswehr's satellite communications system (SATCOMBw) is indispensable for autonomous and independently deployable communications and information services. It ensures the global command and information capability of the German armed forces, such as operational contingents and special forces. The SATCOMBw 3 project also aims to ensure that NATO's North Atlantic Treaty Organisation commitments in this area will continue to be met in the future. With SATCOMBw 3, the Bundeswehr is responding to increased user requirements. #BAAINBw #Bundeswehr #AirbusSpace

With more 'unfriendly behaviour' and new weapons, the world is preparing for war in space Floating among the stars are constellations of thousands of satellites that make our world go around. Global dependence on these systems often goes unnoticed, but any major orbital attack would up-end life as we know it. And analysts say space systems are under threat like never before. In recent years, China has shown it has the ability to "grapple" satellites and manoeuvre them into a graveyardorbit. The UK estimated that a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) outage — which includes GPS — would cost the British economy £1.42 billion ($2.7 billion) a day. About 90 countries operate in space, and investments in space capabilities have been growing. The US recently doubled its Space Force budget from $US15.4 billion ($23.4 billion) to $US30.3 billion between 2021 and 2024. Australia also announced last month that its defence budget would include large investments in space. The amount of human-made objects in space has also been soaring, with last year setting the record for the most satellite launches. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) database counted 7,560 active satellites in orbit as of May 2023. United States: 5,184 Russia: 181 China: 628 Other: 1,572 And more than 24,500 satellites are expected to be launched by 2031, of which more than 70 per cent will be commercial. There have been several destructive anti-satellite missile tests (ASAT) that have caused dangerous amounts of space debris. Landing humans on Mars needs international collaboration — former NASA chief However, the former chief of the US space agency was skeptical about the prospect of a private company’s capability of sending humans to Mars alone WASHINGTON DC, September 7/ Getting humans to Mars could happen if there is a collaboration of nations, scientists, and the private sector, United States Marine Corps Major General Charles Bolden, the head of NASA in the Obama administration (2009-2017), said in an interview with TASS. "I am a person who happens to believe it's going to take international collaboration to get to places where I want us to go, like Mars," Bolden said. "It's very difficult to go to space, period, really difficult to go somewhere like the Moon, and really, really, really difficult to talk about getting humans to Mars. While there are a lot of individuals and a lot of single countries that have ambitions to be the first to get there, I think it's going to be a collaboration of nations, academia, and the private sector that are going to enable us to get there," he said. According to Bolden, he still expects that his goal of having humans on Mars is the 2030s although "that's getting harder and harder." "And I have heard my friend, the [current] NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, say early 2040s. But I'm still holding out hope," he said. However, the former chief of the US space agency was skeptical about the prospect of a private company’s capability of sending humans to Mars alone. "And I'll go back to what I talked about before, about the critical importance of collaboration among countries, academic institutions, and industry. That's what it's going to take to get humans to Mars," Bolden emphasized. (Part One, Continued in Part Two in the next post) #business #finance #financialservices

🚨 Have you heard of GPS spoofing? 🚨 GPS spoofing is a deceptive practice where false GPS signals are transmitted to trick a receiver into thinking it’s in a different location or time. While it may sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, the reality is that this tactic has serious implications, particularly in the aviation sector. Recent reports have shown a 400% increase in these attacks, raising concerns about the broader impact on both navigation and communication systems. But why would someone engage in GPS spoofing? The reasons vary, but in conflict zones, it's often used to mislead incoming drones or missiles, creating confusion and disrupting operations. However, what’s particularly alarming is the ability to manipulate time. GPS systems don’t just guide planes—they synchronize clocks, crucial for secure communications and coordinated operations. When these clocks are tampered with, as seen in a recent incident involving a major airline, the results can be chaotic, leading to grounded planes and disrupted systems. Understanding the motives and methods behind GPS spoofing is crucial as it helps us recognize the broader risks to critical infrastructure. It's not just about misdirection; it's about the potential ripple effects that can compromise safety and reliability in our increasingly connected world.
