Iran Airspace: Airport Closures and Ongoing Risks Situation Update: Temporary Airport Closures: Iranian authorities have issued NOTAMs announcing the closure of all airports within the country from 21:00 local time (16:30 UTC) on October 7th to 06:00 local time (01:30 UTC) on October 8th. The stated reason for these closures is "operational reasons," which provides no specific details. This follows a similar closure that occurred last week following the attacks on Israel. Potential Implications: While the majority of international operators are already avoiding Iranian airspace due to ongoing safety concerns, this closure may indicate that Iran anticipates potential retaliatory action from Israel. However, there is currently no concrete evidence to support this assumption. FAA Extends SFAR for Tehran FIR: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended its Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) for the OIIX/Tehran Flight Information Region (FIR) for another three years. This SFAR prohibits US operators from flying in the Tehran FIR at all altitudes due to the risk of misidentification and unannounced military activity. International Warnings: The FAA's decision aligns with warnings issued by other countries, including the UK and Germany, who have recently heightened their advisories against flying in Iranian airspace. Recommendations: Avoid Iranian Airspace: Operators are strongly advised to continue avoiding Iranian airspace until the situation stabilizes and clear information regarding safety is available. Monitor Developments: Closely monitor NOTAMs, aviation safety advisories, and news sources for any updates or changes to the situation in Iran. Contingency Planning: Operators with potential routes that could be affected by developments in the region should develop contingency plans that include alternative routes and fuel strategies. Key Takeaways: The closure of Iranian airports, while temporary, raises concerns about potential escalations in the region. The FAA and other international aviation authorities continue to highlight significant safety risks associated with Iranian airspace. Operators should prioritize safety and remain vigilant in monitoring the evolving situation. ❗ The Dutch Safety Board has published the Quarterly Aviation Report Q1 2024. In this edition, Chris van Dam, chairman, discusses international collaboration in accident investigations in the aviation sector in his foreword. 🌍 International agreements require that a country where an aviation accident has occurred, conducts an accident investigation. If an accident occurs abroad with Dutch involvement, the Dutch Safety Board will also be involved. ✔ Thanks to good global cooperation, the aviation sector can jointly conduct an effective and thorough investigation and learn as many lessons as possible. The Quarterly Aviation Report Q1 2024 describes: 4 occurrences into which an investigation has been started in the Netherlands 6 occurrences into which an investigation has been started abroad 16 completed investigations 1 completed investigation abroad https://lnkd.in/ejfRPsww #aviaton #report #flightsafety #investigation

https://lnkd.in/dSM2Rj_g Collision of the LATAM Aircraft during the takeoff run, against a SSEI-LAP Rescue Vehicle, which entered the flight runway without having the Express Authorization of the CORPAC Control Tower, when it was carrying out a Time Taking Exercise. Response from the new Aeronautical Fire Station of the Jorge Chávez International Airport. This chain of events originated from the lack of joint planning; poor coordination; and the non-use of communication and phraseology standardized by ICAO.

ICAO Annexes: The Building Blocks of International Aviation ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization, is responsible for establishing international standards and recommended practices (SARPs) for civil aviation. These standards are codified in a series of documents known as Annexes. Here's a brief explanation of each Annex: * Annex 1: Personnel Licensing * Outlines licensing requirements for pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation personnel. * Annex 2: Rules of the Air * Defines rules governing aircraft operation, including traffic patterns, flight levels, and VFR/IFR procedures. * Annex 3: Meteorological Services * Specifies meteorological information and services required for safe and efficient air navigation. * Annex 4: Aeronautical Charts * Defines standards for aeronautical charts and maps. * Annex 5: Units of Measurement * Establishes the units of measurement to be used in air and ground operations. * Annex 6: Operation of Aircraft * Covers operational requirements for aircraft, including performance standards, flight crew qualifications, and emergency procedures. * Annex 7: Aircraft Nationality and Registration Marks * Establishes rules for registering aircraft and assigning nationality marks. * Annex 8: Airworthiness of Aircraft * Sets standards for the design, manufacture, and maintenance of aircraft to ensure airworthiness. * Annex 9: Facilitation * Outlines procedures for expediting the clearance of aircraft, passengers, crew, and cargo through customs, immigration, and quarantine. * Annex 10: Aeronautical Telecommunications * Defines standards for radio communication, navigation, and surveillance systems used in air traffic control. * Annex 11: Air Traffic Services * Specifies requirements for air traffic services, including air traffic control, flight information services, and alerting services. * Annex 12: Search and Rescue * Outlines procedures for search and rescue operations in case of aircraft accidents or incidents. * Annex 13: Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation * Defines standards for investigating aircraft accidents and incidents. * Annex 14: Aerodromes * Specifies design and operational requirements for aerodromes, including runways, taxiways, and terminal buildings. * Annex 15: Aeronautical Information Services * Defines standards for providing aeronautical information to pilots and air traffic controllers. * Annex 16: Environmental Protection * Outlines measures to protect the environment from aircraft noise and emissions. * Annex 17: Security * Specifies security measures to protect civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference. * Annex 18: The Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air * Defines requirements for the safe transport of dangerous goods by air. By adhering to these international standards, ICAO helps ensure the safety, security, and efficiency of global air transportation.

Enhanced Sixth Generation Control Tower Composition: - The new control tower consists of two floors in large and complex international airports or a dedicated section on the same floor in smaller airports, allocated for the firefighting team. and special events Tasks: Works closely with navigation teams without causing any disturbance or panic, managing tasks smoothly: 1. Early Intervention: - Firefighting operations start at a specified height before the aircraft touches down, controlling foam or anti-skid materials just minutes before the aircraft's arrival. 2. Runway Cleaning: - The runway is cleaned immediately after the aircraft passes, including dust, debris, gravel, and sand removal, or Foreign Object Debris (FOD). 3. Ice and Snow Control: - Efficiently controls the spraying of firefighting foam or anti-icing and de-icing salt in cold weather conditions. 4. Fire Monitoring: - Immediately alerts to any runway fire incident and reacts promptly. 5. Multi-Mode Operations and Task Storage: - Operates in multiple modes and can store tasks for later execution, including working during both day and night. Benefits: - Enhances aircraft and passenger safety while improving operational coordination at airports. - Reduces accident risks and enhances public safety, along with providing specific advantages in comprehensive visibility and virus control. - Facilitates communication and coordination among various airport teams, including security, navigation, firefighting, and ground services. Overall, the Enhanced Sixth Generation Control Tower is a fundamental element in enhancing aviation safety and efficiency at airports. #IATA #ICAO #ACI #CANSO #ICCAIA #FSFIFALPA #IFATCA #IBAC #IAOPA #FAA #EASA # #GACA #arffs #rffs #afoa #JAA.
