Enjoying your posts Karen Jones, especially this one 😉 Stay tuned, indeed! Thanks to the International Canoe Federation, NSW Government and Australian Government , tickets for the 2025 World Champs (1-6 October), hosted by Paddle Australia, will go on sale next year. Meanwhile, we look forward to welcoming top Australian and international athletes to Penrith Whitewater Stadium for the Oceania Championships (24-26 Jan) and Australian Open (21-23 Feb). www.paddle25.org.au
Riding the Rapids to 2025 and Beyond. After seeing first-hand the excellence in Paris, I couldn’t wait to get back and partake in an announcement that sees this momentum reaching home soil. Earlier this year, it was announced that the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships will be at the Office of Sport’s Penrith Whitewater Stadium from 1-6 October 2025. Around 300 competitors from 50 nations will come to Penrith to complete across 10 medal events, including Canoe and Kayak Singles (C1 and K1), Teams and the Kayak Cross. And of course, local heroes and Olympic Gold Medallists Jess and Noemie Fox are scheduled to compete. Thanks to the $3.1m upgrades from the NSW Government - encompassing new course gates, a modern timing system and infrastructure enhancements, Penrith Whitewater Stadium and Office of Sport employees are now getting ready to deliver a world class event. This event, like many that will happen in the years to come, is an important springboard to LA 2028 and to an Australian Olympic Games in 2032. Now just watch this space for tickets!
