World Rowing paves the way for Beach Sprint Rowing at LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games! The World Rowing Council has decided to attribute the 2025 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the 2026 World Rowing Coastal Championships & Beach Sprint Finals to Qingdao, China. The 2025 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals will take place 23 to 26 October 2025, and will mark the first World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals to take place in the Americas, as well as in the Southern Hemisphere. The 2026 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals will mark the second time the event is held in China, after the first ever World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals were held in Shenzen in 2019. Along with the Coastal Championships, they will be held in the port city of Qingdao, located in the province of Shandong, Host City of Olympic Sailing in 2008. The winner of the 2024 Rowing Programme of the Year Award is Fulham Reach Boat Club of Great Britain. Fulham Reach Boat Club (FRBC) has made tremendous strides in programme development over the past year, highlighted by significant financial, participation, and workforce milestones. To highlight a few examples, their commitment to creating a more inclusive coaching environment not only enhances the quality of their programmes but also sets an important example within the wider sports community. Boats Not Bars, their prison rowing program, has grown from a mostly in-prison initiative, to one that targets the specific needs of the participants.
