What do you do if your culture change efforts are not promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workforce?
Starting with an honest assessment is crucial. We need to candidly evaluate the current state of our culture change efforts and acknowledge any shortcomings in promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workforce. This assessment should involve a thorough examination of our existing initiatives, policies, and practices, as well as an open dialogue with employees to understand their perspectives and experiences. Only by confronting the reality of the situation can we begin to identify the root causes of the problem and develop effective solutions. This honest assessment sets the foundation for meaningful change and demonstrates our commitment to fostering a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

How can you use critical reflection to develop a holistic perspective in coaching?
True holistic coaching goes beyond the surface and addresses the mind, body, and spirit. It is about nurturing and empowering the whole person to achieve balance, fulfillment, and lasting transformation. This approach encourages individuals to explore their beliefs, values, and motivations. Through self-reflection and introspection, individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their patterns of behavior and mindsets. This increased self-awareness allows them to make conscious choices and align their actions with their values and goals.

How can you use critical reflection to develop a holistic perspective in coaching?
One of the challenge in holistic coaching is the potential for resistance or skepticism from clients who may be unfamiliar with the approach. Some clients may have a more traditional view of coaching and may be hesitant to embrace taking a holistic view. The coach needs to educate and explain the benefits of holistic coaching to clients, and help them understand how it can support their overall well-being and personal growth. However, the coachee is creative, resourceful and whole. They get to choose what they want to focus on. My job is to support them even if it’s just a toe in the uncharted waters. After all, “the unexamined life is not worth living” Socrates

How can you use critical reflection to develop a holistic perspective in coaching?
Reflection is the 5th R in my 5R’s of mental resilience model. It allows individuals to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their experiences, and the world around them. Reflection helps to identify patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement, leading to self-awareness and self-improvement. It also promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills by encouraging individuals to analyze and evaluate their thoughts, actions, and decisions. Reflecting involves taking the time to think deeply and introspectively about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It is an important tool to fulfilment of our highest potential. Awareness is intelligence!

Be the change you want to see in the world. I live by this statement. This is why I rescue dogs and volunteer with animal rescue organizations. To watch an animal transformation after a horrific experience, is nothing short of a miracle. They have taught me the importance of resilience, love and forgiveness.
