The stock is not the company and the company is not the stock. There's great news coming from south of the border about rescheduling cannabis. I saw a big uptake in canadian cannabis stocks purely based on hope of US legalization. When you invest in a company don't look at their stock price. Look at their business fundamentals. Do they know how to run a lean business, are they knowledgeable about the industry, do they have a record of success, do they make great products, it's thier cost of production low... These are the things worth investing in. Billions have already been lost in cannabis when they were blinded by greed amd hype. Let's hope investor male smarter decisions going forward.

Important Scam Alert for Ontario Cannabis Dispensaries Attention Ontario Cannabis Dispensary owners and employees: Please be aware of an ongoing scam targeting our industry. Over the past week, we've observed a concerning trend where individuals posing as store owners contact dispensaries via phone. These scammers convince unsuspecting budtenders to access the store's safe and either hand over all the cash to a supposed collector or deposit it into a Bitcoin ATM. Over the last few weeks this has been a hot issue discussed in our retailer group chat. Every one of my stores has received such calls. While it might seem clear that these are scams, it’s not always obvious to those on the front lines. Unfortunately, many budtenders have been deceived, leading to substantial financial losses for retailers. In the past year alone, our staff was duped twice, resulting in losses exceeding $4,000. To protect your business and employees, it is crucial to: 1. Educate Your Staff: Make sure all team members are aware of this scam and understand that no legitimate process involves unscheduled cash collections or unsolicited deposits. 2. Implement Strict Procedures: Establish clear protocols for handling phone calls that involve financial transactions or sensitive operations. Ensure these procedures are known and understood by everyone in your business. 3. Verify Caller Identities: Train your staff to verify the identity of the caller through multiple means before taking any action discussed over the phone. I also urge the OCS Ontario Cannabis Store and the The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to proactively communicate these risks to all cannabis retailers across the province. Their broad reach could significantly aid in preventing further incidents. Please take immediate action and discuss this with your team. Let’s work together to safeguard our businesses and our hard-working employees from these fraudulent schemes.

The vast majority of cannabis purchases in Canada continue to come from legal sources, according to Health Canada’s annual cannabis survey. The amount commonly spent per month on cannabis decreased from $73 in 2018 to $63 in 2024 but was unchanged from 2023. The 2024 Canadian Cannabis Survey highlights ongoing trends among cannabis consumers in the country, documenting not only sources of cannabis but also topics such as consumption habits and perceptions of cannabis risks.  Smoking cannabis remains the most common way Canadians consume the product, but the proportion who report smoking cannabis has declined by twenty percentage points since legalization began. In 2018, 89% of cannabis consumers reported smoking cannabis, a number that has declined to 69% in the last two years of the federal government’s annual Canadian Cannabis Survey. Eating cannabis products was the second most common mode of consumption (57%, up from 43% in 2018) according to data collected from April 4 to July 2, 2024, while vaporizing (including vaping dried cannabis and/or liquid or solid cannabis extracts) accounted for 37% of reported consumption.

To further elaborate on David's article, when the producer gets $14.61 for a 28g bag of weed, they have to pay thier employees, rent, and cost of packaging, shipping, licensing fees, marketing costs and some other costs im missing.. How much is actually left for a profit? I feel they're losing money. what gets sacrificed? the quality of the weed. It costs money to produce quality products. Everyone needs to make money to stay encouraged to continue their business. No wonder why the illicit market is winning. The government needs to give back and let the people doing the hard work make some money.

Canada has been one of the leading innovators dating as far back as 1847 when the Massey-Harris Company was formed. The Massey-Harris Company was responsible for some of the leading innovations that made farming less labor intensive. The company began making plows, harrows, cultivators, and rollers, and eventually some of the world’s first mechanical threshers. To date, Canadians continue to be leading innovators with breakthrough innovation in healthcare with a Canadian inventing insulin, in transportation (Uber), in sports (Basketball), in gaming (Roblox) you name it. But there is one thing that has been consistent, dating back to the Massey-Harris era - our inventions or founders end up elsewhere either through acquisition or departure, mostly to the US. Acquisition is not a bad problem to have. However, we must cultivate an economy that makes it easier for our people to thrive, and be leading innovators.
