I'm always confused when early stage founders think that they should hire or outsource their marketing efforts in the early days. Instead, think about crafting your marketing around your personal journey founding your startup. To do this, start on social, not with your company account but rather with your personal account, talking about why you are so passionate about the mission of your startup. This will help establish your brand as one that is relatable and transparent and will be a great foundation for building an organic audience. Remember that people don't want to be marketed to, they want human connections and real talk - and your personal journey is your brand.

I mean hustling to figure out who the top 10 writers are in your category, taking them out for lunch, amplifying THEM on social, and creating genuine connection. Then put the perfect pitch in their inbox / DM, hopefully with an opportunity for an exclusive, and go from there. It's $$$ free but time expensive. Even if you don't get the press at launch, these relationships will be valuable in the long run. One great article can provide significant credibility - you can put it everywhere! And, press begets press.
