It was a pleasure participating in today's panel discussion at #BioFIT2024 in Lille, France. Thanks to the organizers for the opportunity to share my experience as a biotech startup in licensing deals. It was great discussing with the co-panelists (large pharma + TTO) and the moderator.

We are delighted to announce the publication of a new article by Julien Damoczi titled "Uncovering the Arsenal of Class II Bacteriocins in Streptococcus salivarius". Resulting from a collaboration with Université catholique de Louvain and University of Lausanne - UNIL, this work involved analyzing 100 genomes of S. salivarius, leading to the identification of over 50 new bacteriocins that offer promising alternatives in the fight against antibiotic resistance. The team discovered a remarkable diversity of bacteriocins potentially effective against multi-resistant Gram-positive pathogens. We would like to thank all the partners involved in this project. Syngulon is excited to share our latest preprint on bacteriocin-based research and its applications. This work is a collaboration between our company's scientists and academic partners from various universities. We explore how combinations of bacteriocins (cocktails) can be rapidly and reliably produced and scaled up using our PARAGEN collection, a set of standardized genetic devices for bacteriocin cell-free expression. Using PARAGEN for bacteriocin cocktail synthesis can accelerate both in vitro and in vivo screening and testing procedures. Notably, these cocktails can broaden the spectrum of bacteriocin activity, act synergistically to kill bacteria, prevent antimicrobial resistance, and even eliminate antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the animal model Galleria mellonella.
