Updates

  • The future of Europe starts at home. 🏡 Home appliances are strategic enablers of sustainability, provided that the right conditions are in place. For the next EU legislative cycle, we urge the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union to work alongside the industry to unlock the true power of sustainability within the walls of European homes and enable a just transition that leaves no one behind. Our manifesto calls for European leaders to: ⭐ Enable the transition to a climate neutral Europe ⭐ Support citizens in the transition ⭐ Preserve jobs and promote growth in Europe Learn more about our recommendations for 2024-2029: https://lnkd.in/esPECbzA #EP2024 #EU

  • Rising material costs and high energy prices are making it hard for EU manufacturers to stay competitive on the global market. Electricity prices in Europe are 2-3 times higher than those in the US which means higher investment costs for EU manufacturers compared to global competitors. Additionally, the global supply of critical raw materials is concentrated in just a few regions, exposing the EU to price fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and potential geopolitical leverage. This states a clear need for diversified supply chains, new and existing trade relationships to ultimately increase critical raw material extraction and recycling in the Region and abroad. We call for stronger alignment of policies with decarbonisation goals to enable Europe to lead the #techrace, ensuring a competitive and sustainable future for European manufacturers. 💡Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dWtAxXer

  • A fragmented #SingleMarket is holding Europe back. Exponential growth in regulations has created an unsustainable burden for EU manufacturers. Lack of alignment between EU and national laws adds to the challenge, driving up costs and diverting resources from innovation and investment. Our call to EU policymakers: STREAMLINE and SIMPLIFY the regulatory framework to support European manufacturers. The new Commissioner for the Single Market Teresa Ribera Rodríguez has announced a Single Market Barrier Prevention Act. This is a much-needed measure to evolve toward a European dimension, and it should be timely tabled to address all existing challenges. • 📢 Today, Giulia Zilla, our Policy Director on Energy and Environment and Chairwoman of The Coalition for Energy Savings, joined a discussion with Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission. The meeting focused on the important role of energy efficiency in Europe’s Clean Industrial Deal. 📌 Energy efficiency is key to decarbonising Europe’s industries while maintaining competitiveness. It reduces energy consumption, strengthens resilience, and lowers reliance on energy imports, preparing industries for future challenges. 📌 Looking ahead, the Clean Industrial Deal must recognise energy efficiency as a major element in achieving Europe’s climate, industrial, and housing goals.

There's no better way to wrap up the year! 😊 Today, we had the pleasure of meeting with the Director-General of DG Energy, Ditte Juul Jørgensen, to exchange ideas on how to successfully advance energy efficiency during this Commission’s mandate. We highlighted how energy efficiency enhances competitiveness and supports the objectives of the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal, the urgency of implementing the Energy Efficiency Directive, and the benefits of providing energy efficiency businesses and stakeholders with a stable regulatory framework beyond 2030, including with an EU 2040 energy efficiency objective.  Now time for a relaxing break, so we can return fully energised for a busy 2025! 💪 Patrick ten Brink Giulia Zilla Arianna Vitali Roscini Jan te Bos Chiara Martinelli

  • Great news! 📊 According to the European Environment Agency, the lifespan of household appliances has increased by an average of 2%, based on a survey across four Member States. Small appliances such as vacuum cleaners and coffee machines, as well as larger ones like washing machines and refrigerators, are lasting longer, demonstrating improvements in quality, longevity, and reliability. Appliances with a longer lifespan mean fewer replacements, which helps minimise waste and supports more sustainable use of resources. It's a positive shift that benefits both consumers and the environment, as the home appliance sector continues to improve its products in a more resource-efficient way.

  • 💚 This holiday season, in lieu of sending cards, we are giving back in a meaningful way by partnering with Fondazione Lab00 ETS - SpesaSospesa.org on the SpesaSospesa.org® project, built on the principles of #circularsolidarity. Our contribution will provide 365 essential groceries to 2 families in need over the course of one year. Beyond supporting those facing hardship, this initiative also plays a key role in combating #foodwaste, as the groceries include recovered food that would otherwise go to waste. We are honored to be part of this effort, bringing hope and relief to many families this Christmas season 🎄 Small gestures, big impact ⭐ 🔗 Discover more at spesasospesa.org

  • Products we rely on, from everyday essentials to advanced technologies, depend on critical raw materials. During #RawMaterialsWeek2024, the focus is on ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of these essential resources. The industry is committed to responsible sourcing, recycling, and increasing supply chain transparency. However, two-thirds of valuable materials from end-of-life appliances remain unrecovered, highlighting the need for better waste collection and recycling systems. Addressing this is essential to achieving Europe’s sustainability goals and ensuring access to critical materials for future innovations. 👉 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eKpbq6gQ #criticalrawmaterials
