Don’t get caught up trying to find the cheapest deal for your website. If you’re sold on the results a good website can bring to your business, and you personally as a business owner, Why would you search for the cheapest option? You can always find someone who will build a site for $200, The issue with going with someone like that is they are guaranteed to be working with 6 - 7 other clients at the same time to be financially stable. Leading to far worse end results and a less personalized, thought out approach for your business. Meaning you’ll likely need to change your site again in a few weeks anyway. If you have the budget, find a web designer who understands the needs of your business and invest in them. When money is tight, don’t ditch your influencer marketing campaign. I was recently hired by an overseas company to source two particular influencers for an Australian campaign and was paid upfront. After searching for the required criteria across my network I created a list of 15 content creators who I thought would be perfect and gave my recommendations on the top two. The company agreed and they were hired. And then they were fired. The company has said the budget has been blown so they were cancelling their influencer marketing strategy. This was a bad move for two reasons: 1. Reputation - 15 influencers were keen to follow the success of this campaign and if they bailed word would spread in influencer land - fast. 2. The success of this business relied upon customers buying through social media. Killing your influencer marketing spend is a sure fire way to dry up your revenue stream. Thankfully I was able to convince this company to continue with the campaign and surprising they found the budget very quickly. Lesson: In today’s online marketing landscape protect your influencer marketing budget as all costs.

If you're a small CBD brand with little to no online presence, here are the four things you need to focus on: 1. WEBSITE A well-designed website with a functional e-commerce store and email collection installed is the first thing your business needs. Your current in-person customers MUST have a place they can buy from you online. This alone will increase sales. Also, if people ask you about your business -- whether at an event or in everyday conversation -- you will now have a place to send them (that could result in an email signup or sale). Design your website to: → Capture email signups → Drive sales Your website is the foundation for everything. 2. EMAIL It's always easier to get an email signup than a sale. That's why one of the most effective growth strategies is to build an email list, then monetize it. If you have an existing customer list, the FASTEST way to make more revenue is to send emails to these people. Then, the NEXT-FASTEST way to make more money is to build flows that are sent to every new email subscriber you get. 3. SEO Once you have a website that captures emails and drive sales (and feeds your email marketing engine), you need to bring people in to this website at scale. This is what SEO is for. → Ranking for product-related keywords = SALES → Ranking for informational keywords = EMAIL SIGNUPS = SALES 4. SOCIAL MEDIA Once you've claimed your brand's "home base" and have the basic email-SEO customer acquisition and retention in place, it's time to build community. Email and SEO will move revenue numbers in the short term. But the strength of your brand's image and your community is what will allow to continue growing in the long term. This is what Facebook and Instagram are for. Using your email list, push your customers to follow you on social media. Then, begin posting and ENGAGING with your customers when they comment on your posts. Relationships create immense value for your brand, even if it's hard to measure. - Whether you're starting a new brand or taking an established brick-and-mortar brand online, these are the four things you MUST nail down. Your website, email marketing, SEO, and social media are the primary vessels you'll use to reach your customers, drive first orders, and drive repeat orders. Anyone who says you just need one of these things is lying to you. The answer isn't web design OR email OR SEO OR social media. It's all four -- just in the right order.

Our client was reluctant to add online ordering to their sales approach. We were relentless that it would work. After adding the purchasing option, we have seen 22% of their overall sales come through the website. That’s in just four months, driving around $750K in sales. (Insert all the cartwheels here.) We provided a new avenue to capture leads, increase sales and overall engagement in the content that racked up a 263% increase in web users during that time. We’re seeing an average 23 leads coming in per day and I’m dancing around the room in celebration at about the same rate. Our client has been able to (in what they normally would call their slow time) see solid performance from these digital efforts and STILL have opportunities to upsell once the customer enters the funnel. The increase of 69% in leads just from digital ads alone is setting us up for what we hope to be a crazy fourth quarter. Let’s gooooo! Meet Tim, he was my first… My first client that in 2017 who paid me for my digital marketing services The services were both Google ads and SEO I remember working very long hours, because I didn’t want to fail him. The things I did outside of running ads and writing content was. -Google analytics set up and conversion tracking -Google search console set up -His contact forms were f$&ked so I had to fix those -His website loaded slow because all his images were hi res so had to reduce the size of each -His Google Business Profile wasn’t optimised, so I did that for free I can’t remember how many leads I generated him. All I remember is that within the first month, I grew my skills in digital marketing more than any of the courses I had done before. Learning by getting in there and trying things. One of the big L’s I took was updating one of his plugins on his Wordpress website and his whole site went down 💀 Not knowing what to do I called his website hosting guy, who reloaded the website from the day before. Solving the issue within 30mins. Tim has joined a new company and we are helping them streamline and automate sales and marketing. How I helped a client go from nobody to getting 1.1M views and $280,000 in booked sales calls in 2023 (and how I plan to use this weekly strategy for the 2024 Q4 to achieve similar results in 90 days) It all starts with flipping 'quantity' to 'quality.' A hill I’m willing to die on is that you absolutely cannot deliver a top quality website without top quality assets. Specifically: Branding – Your fonts, colours, tone of voice, and general vibe of your company that you want to shine through in your website design. Copywriting – What’s your message? Who are you speaking to? What do your potential customers need to know? Any tactical SEO to be considered? Photography – Don’t even start me on stock images for a business that wants to stand out. These are the basics. On top of this you can consider graphic design, motion design, video and much more depending on the needs of your business and what you want to communicate to users. Without these you are going to create a generic website and not stand out from the crowd.

Reframing your mindset can make all the difference. Instead of thinking, “I have to do X,” try thinking, “I get to do X.” This shift in perspective makes the journey of growing a business 10x more enjoyable. Over the past 2 years, I’ve grown my Google Ads agency to a $750k/yr run rate... And this mindset shift has played a huge role in my success. People always say: "the person who loves the journey will go further than the person who loves the destination." But they never tell you HOW to enjoy the journey. For me, this has been the trick to do so. Instead of looking at my calendar and thinking: "I HAVE to sit through all these calls today." I now think: "I GET to join these calls today." And I think that BECAUSE on those calls I'll: - Learn new things - Sign some new clients - Speak with my awesome team And the best bit? This mindset shift creates a positive flywheel effect in your life. The more you think like this, the more enthusiasm you'll bring into your day. And the more enthusiasm you bring, the more you'll move the needle. So the day that you used to dream about having... Becomes your usual day to day. Hope this helped!
