As part of its policy against student precariousness, the ULB offers Smart and vegetarian dishes at a social rate of 2 € to support students in difficulty. 

Who can benefit from 2€ meals and how?    

The Student Social Service also wishes to relay, outside ULB, the student rate in the Cafet1070! Enjoy a healthy and hot meal in one of the 5 cafés in Brussels for 4€.

Funds

The ULB Student Social Service also manages various endowed funds. Each fund is dedicated to a purpose set out by the donors who have bequeathed their money to the ULB. The amount of aid will be determined according to the needs of the student and the funds available.

ULB Sports card discount

The ULB Sports card grants access, for the entire year, to all activities listed in the sports programme, whether on the Solbosch, Erasme, or Charleroi campuses or at the Forêt de Soignes Sports centre (each location has its specific calendar). For the 2023-2024 academic year, students receiving financial aid from the Student Welfare Office may purchase the ULB Sports card at a discount. 
If you have not yet been in contact with the Student Welfare Office, follow the application procedure for financial aid; if you have, please contact your case worker.

Priority access to ULB housing

The ULB offers accommodation for a limited number of students; if you are known to the Student Social Service, know that you can be classified as a priority.

Prep courses

All students will receive a certificate allowing them to benefit from the student rate for meals taken at lunchtime in the university restaurants during the preparatory courses.

Students living outside the Brussels-Capital Region can apply, under certain financial conditions, for a financial contribution to their expenses: Transport (SNCB, STIB, TEC, De Lijn) Rent reduction if ULB accommodation.

Student Welfare Office

The Student Welfare Office (SWO) is there for you during the entire academic year. It will lend you an ear and provide information about your rights, pointing you to the appropriate contacts and supporting you through your interactions with entities outside ULB.

It is open to all students and can provide support:

  • throughout their studies, to help them organize their student life
  • for one-time requests (at any point in the student’s university career), if they encounter temporary difficulties or an unplanned situation.
