Tuskegee University offers Summer Programs for 1) High School Students, 2) College Students, and 3) Teachers wishing to broaden their experience in their planned field of study and future careers. As we update our offerings for the summer, the listing below provides an overview of the types of programs and subject matter offered, as well as the general program dates and deadlines. Agri-TREK/Sci-TREK/AgDiscovery  
2-wk residential program for HIGH SCHOOL students currently in grades 9-11. These programs create an awareness of the educational opportunities that are available in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Mathematics (STEAM) and related areas through hands-on research, leadership development and personal enrichment activities.

CISC Summer Experience
Internship Program for COLLEGE STUDENTS seeking to be future farmers or agricultural specialists.
PROGRAM DATES:  June 3-July 26, 2024

Digital Ag Immersion Program  
This unique experience will foster educational training of high school and middle school EDUCATORS in the area of food and agriculture while simultaneously providing them with tools to marry agriculture and computer science, resulting in a perfect training program in digital agriculture.

Alabama Youth Institute
1-day program for high school students. High school students engage with local leaders and experts on critical global challenges, participate in hands-on activities, and explore exciting ways to make a difference in Alabama and around the world. Each student participant qualifies for access to all-expenses-paid international internships and paid summer research or policy placements.

National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility Laboratorian Training Program (NLTP)   
(Application Information) 

The summer portion of NLTP will be an eight-week, in-person training program that will consist of: (1) training in high containment laboratory safety (2) hands-on training related to diagnostic lab skills required to work with high containment agents, (3) training in livestock and small lab animal care and management techniques, and (4) professional devel. training.

REEU Summer Internship Program at Tuskegee University
The Research and Extension Experiential Learning for Undergraduates (REEU) Program is a 10-week program for Rising Sophomore, Junior and Senior STEM Majors.

Tuskegee University’s Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop targets high school science TEACHERS and introduces them to basic concepts and advanced technologies in plant genomics and biotechnology.

Geospatial Education and Training (GET) Workshop for Teachers
This 2-day workshop, funded by Tuskegee University CAENS Cooperative Extension Progran (CEP) and organized by the Geospatial & Climate Change Center (GCCC), provides geospatial training to teachers from local minority high schools and community colleges.

Systems-Based Summer Experiential Training in Organic Farming

This 8-week program is open to high school and undergraduate students who are interested in organic agriculture (sustainable food production as a producer, crop advisor, Ag extension professional, organic inspector, sustainable food production researcher or other sustainable agricultural professional).  This is an opportunity to engage in systems-based experiential training in organic farming at Tuskegee University's Certified Organic Research Farm.

PROGRAM DATES:  July 29, 2024

Potential Stipend: High school students- $1,750

Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers Teacher Workshop 
This 2-day workshop provides hands-on training to teachers interested in incorporating next generation technologies into their classroom. Concepts include design thinking, 3D modeling and design, Augmented and Virtual realities, coding, robotics, and MORE. Workshop also reviews ways to access funding to increase STEM access in local area schools.

Mini Meat Camp

During the Mini Meat Camp, students will learn about agriculture and livestock production through the scope of the meat industry. This will take you out of the world of veterinary medicine. Students will participate in hands on activities including;

  • lab experiments and formulations
  • visits to meat processing facilities and the stockyard
  • leadership activities

Verizon Innovative Learning (VIL) STEM Achievers Program 
The 2024 program will launch as a three-week non-residential program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. This is a NO COST program and includes meals, snacks, transportation, program, and learning materials, in addition to a stipend for scholars who successfully complete the program.
