ANALYSIS PAPER

Mindoro oriental is a rural area where there is a remote place that needs help. It is a place where there are
still people hoping for changes on how they live. These people need attention so that they can have their needs met.
For example going to their places even the road to them is difficult to pass.

People in that particular area have never had experience of having electricity, enough medical staff and
medicines and also their road way. These things are the important things they need. You could see that they didn’t
get enough care and attention just because they are far from cities. It is also stated that 142 municipalities don't
even have medical staff. When there is a visitor some thought it was a doctor, just like what Kara David
experienced. The problem is if you are far from the government, it will be difficult for you to ask for help,
especially since the place is far away. They are victims of social injustice, unfair treatment and limited services.
The first thing they need to do to help those kinds of people are, needs assessment where they have to know their
target group and formulate goals. The second is the selection of methods and strategies where they select and
develop theoretical methods based on behavioural determinants and practical applications. Third is the evaluation
plan where they formulate effect and process evaluation objectives and define indicator outcome measures to
evaluate programme effectiveness and quality.

In the video documentary, there were still many people who found it difficult to ask for help because of the
distance from their place. If it has not been documented like what Kara David did, no action will take place. There
are also health workers and local government staff in that area but the help they can give to the people is not
enough. Obviously they don’t get equal treatment and chances to have something else like us. Indigenous people
are treated less by some. On second thought, a question that comes to my mind is that is there any chance that their
lives can change? Is there a chance that there will be one who is willing to help them solve the problems they are
facing? Is there any chance that they can have the same treatment as us? The thing that strikes me the most is how
unequal or unfair the treatment they get. I hope that even if some people's places are far away, they can still get an
adequate supply of medicine and electricity, let's also include water because that's what people need. People who
have big positions especially in government should at least have an idea or have the time to help people in need.
What some helpers are doing is wrong, only those who are close to the place and easy to get to are the ones who
will get help and that's what's wrong. As a community development helper in the future it is our role to help those
people who are in need. If we need to imitate what Kara did to go to the place even though the road is difficult, we
will do that because community development is the one who helps individuals, families or whole communities to
bring about social change and improve the quality of life in their local area.
