I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Identify name and describe the five shapes in 2D figures.
b. Compare and classify 2D figure according to their common attributes, and
c. Draw the five shapes in different figures ( rhombus, square, triangle, rectangle,
circle).
III. Procedure:
1.Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy
Let us pray first.
name. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and
forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those
who trespass against us, and lead us not into
temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Yes Teacher
Are you all present today?
5. Review
Yes, Teacher!
Do you still remember your topic last
Friday?
Teacher, it is all about shapes.
What is it all about?
Very Good!
Teacher, Shapes are closed by an outline or
What is shapes all about ? boundary, which is made up of points, lines,
curves and so on.
Very Good!
Yes, Teacher
Do you still remember the four basic shapes
class ?
The three basic shapes are square, triangle,
So, what are they? and circle.

3. Discussion
Two Dimensional
A two dimensional (2D) shape is defined as a
flat figure or a shape that has two dimensions
( length and width). Two dimensional or 2D shapes
do not have any thickness. 2D figures can be
classified on the basis of the dimensions they
have.
Students are listening
What are the basic shapes of two - dimensional?
1. Circle
A circle is a 2D shape that is made up of a
curved line. Each point present on the curved line
is placed at an equal distance from its center.
Circle is completely round is shape.
2. Triangle
A triangle has three sides and three angles.
All the sides and angles can be different sizes.
There are different types of triangles. The triangle
shown is an equilateral in length and all three
angles are equal.
3.
Square
A square is closed, it is two dimensional
shape with 4 equal sides and 4 equal angles. A
square is a quadrilateral.
4. Rectangle
A rectangle is a 2D shape having 4 sides and 2
corners. Its two sides meet at right angles. The
opposite sides of a rectangle have the same
lengths and are parallel.
5.
Rhombus/ Diamond
A rhombus is a special type of a parallelogram
whose all sides are equal.
Its opposite sides are parallel and opposite angle
are equal.
4. Generalization
Did you understand our topic for today class? Yes Teacher

Teacher, a rectangle
This is my basic shape. Look at me, somehow, I
look like my friend square because I also have 4
corners and 4 sides. But unlike the square, my
sides are not all equal. Who I am?
Very good!
Teacher, a circle
This is my basic shape.I am also a shape.
Unlike my three friends I have no corners and I
am round. Does any body know me?
