How HIV destroys the immune system?

Cells prevent the body from acquiring the diseases that comes its
way.

Figure 1. The cells

Binding and fusion (attachment) HIV attaches to a T-helper cell. It then

fuses to it and releases its genetic information into the cell.

Figure 2. The attachment of cells

Reverse transcription (conversion) and

integration Once inside the T-helper cell, HIV

converts its genetic material into HIV DNA, a

process called reverse transcription. The new HIV

DNA then enters the nucleus of the host cell and

takes control of it.

Figure 3. The conversion of cells

4
Transcription and translation (replication) The infected T-helper cell then

produces HIV proteins that are used to produce more HIV particles inside

the cell.

Figure 4. The Replication

Assembly, budding and maturation the new HIV is put together and then

released from the T-helper cell into the bloodstream to infect other cells; and

so, the process begins again.

STAGES OF HIV INFECTION

There are 3 Stages of HIV Infection

1. Acute HIV Infection
2. Chronic HIV Infection
3. AIDS

ACUTE HIV INFECTION

HIV infection develops within two to four weeks as soon as a person is
infected with HIV. In this stage, many people have flu-like symptoms, such as
fever, headache, and rash.

Figure 6. Symptoms of Acute HIV Infection

CHRONIC HIV INFECTION

HIV continues to multiply in the body but at very low levels. People with
chronic HIV infection may not have any HIV-related symptoms, but they can
still spread HIV to others.

Figure 7. Progression of HIV

6
AIDS
is the final stage of HIV infection. Normally, without treatment, people with
AIDS survive about three years.

Figure 8. Stage of untreated HIV Infection

7
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)

The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or commonly known as AIDS is the

final stage of HIV infection, and not everyone who has HIV advanced to this stage.

AIDS is the stage of infection that occurs when an immune system is badly damaged

and becomes vulnerable to opportunistic infection (such as pneumonia and

tuberculosis).

Aids is symptom where it infects other people through person’s blood, semen (cum),

rectal or vaginal fluids into your bloodstream Aids means (acquired immunodeficiency

syndrome) It lowered your immunity that may leave you vulnerable to opportunistic

infection (such as pneumonia and tuberculosis.) And possible increased risk of

developing other life-limiting conditions like cancer and brain illness is also expected .

extra-curricular activities ng ating office of student affairs.

kasal. Here are some tips to be a productive college student:

1. Discover your interest. Saan ka ba magaling magluto, magbasa, listening music, arts or inclined

ba ang gusto mo sa sports.

3. Be surrounded by people having dreams and vision in life. Having positive friends around you

magkaroon ng concrete plan on how to achieve their goals in life.

Be respectful- Having sex with your boyfriend/girlfriend is not the ultimate expression that you

are deeply in love with each other.

Kapag nirespeto mo ang iyong sarili at ang partner mo, at both niyong inavoid ang pre-marital

sex it is the sign or showing love for yourself and for your partner. As I said true love waits. No to

9
Concentrate on your study-The main reason for pursuing dreams of a college education

is to fulfill your dreams in life and be a better and successful person someday.

Devoting your quality time to study habang ikaw ay inlove. Here are some tips according to

Ritchell Thibodeaux in her My college and careers. • Time Management - may mga importanteng

mga gawain na Kailangan nating tapusin at bago ang pakikipag text or talking to your loveones.

Do not focus on one thing learned

• Mutual aggreement. To have an equilibrium betweenlove and studing ang

iyong parther ay dapat magaggree tungkol sa iyong plano at iskedyul that you both Finish your

studies, and parehas kayong magkakaroon ng mas maraming opportunities in life.

Do not engage in drugs- Using drugs illegally makes the human body vulnerable to

harmful bacteria. Sharing of needles and syringes among people using illegal drugs is

a college student we are the encourage na pumunta at umattend sa mga health seminars

and workshops about health. so that pwede mo ishare ang knowledge na nagain mo in

that seminars or workshops. so that your friends and love ones are also aware sa

HIV/AIDS. Things we need to know in order to prevent HIV/AIDS, first is to the have HIV

test. Usage of condoms to be protected is the best way to prevent both STI and HIV. Limit

10
your sexual partners. Do not abuse alcohol or drugs because they may lead to risky

behaviors such as sharing needles to inject drugs or not using a condom when you're

having sex.

Now we are going to ask you this question.

How are you going to protect yourself from HIV/ AIDS?

Be literate in this issue! Extending awareness alone doesn’t work without self-discipline,

control, and application. It is like a pseudo coma “conscious but paralyzed”. Knowing

alone is not enough. You should apply those lessons to yourself and consider yourself as

being responsible to also teach others.

11
Sex is not a symbol of love. If you truly love yourself then respect it. Sex is a gift from God

whom you receive after marriage. It is not to be played because it is sacred. Bible tells us

that “For everything there is a season, A time for every activity under heaven. A time

to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).

Throughout life we can experience it in a right time. There is no competition on these

things, we have time. Biblically, Apostle Paul reminds us not to make ourselves unclean

(1 Corinthians 6:19-20) (ESV), he asks, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple

of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you

were bought with a price.

If the love you said makes you do bad then it is not love. Because as 1 Corinthians 13:4-

5: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does

not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of

wrongs.

True love can wait and there is always a right time. Focus on your goals and achieve your

dreams. Make your parents proud and be a responsible individual.

“Dahil ang di makapaghintay ay nagiging Tatay”

“Ang nagmamadali ay nagkakamali.”

Love yourself, regrets always comes late!
