I oversee the daily medical office operations at an orthotic & prosthetic clinic. I am responsible for processing all new
referrals including reviewing the patient diagnosis to insure he or she is treated by the appropriate practitioner. I familiarize
myself with each patient to insure he or she receives the best possible resolution for their situation and help implement to
best plan of care for each patients need. With the patients permission I communicate with the family and his or her
practitioner so everyone is on the same page supporting the patient through his and her process to healing. I address patient
issues brought to my attention often by family members to assist through difficult and often stressful times due to failing
health or health challenging occurrences.
- Responsible for obtaining accurate medical information from the patients physician including Rxs and
Clinic notes to support the medical need of services
- Insurance verification and prior authorizations including workmans comp. I am very familiar with all
aspects of health insurance including how to explain a deductible, coinsurance and out of pocket as well
as detail specific benefits to a patient in a way that is easily understandable & not confusing.
- Oversee all ordering and returns of inventory for the office as well as patient equipment/supplies
- Evaluating patients including measuring for custom and off the shelf items Rxd by phsyicians. I see a
broad range of patients from ER, SICU, MICU, Ortho, Neuro, Wound Care and much more. I evaluate
patients prior to surgery as well as after for orthotic service needs.
- Conducting evaluations on all diabetic patients including custom and non custom fitting for shoes and
orthotic devices
- Preparing and reviewing all charts for billing
- Answering any patient questions about charges billed to insurance and or EOB related questions
