My name is Geraldine. I am a goat and I live near a place called Window
Rock with my Navajo friend, Glenmae. Its called Window Rock because it has a big
round hole in it that looks like a window open to the sky. Glenmae is a Navajo
weaver. I guess thats why, one day, she decided to weave me into a rug.
I remember it was a warm, sunny afternoon. Glenmae had spent most of the
morning sharpening a large pair of scissors. I had no idea what she was going to
use them for, but it did not take me long to find out.

Almost anywhere you go in the Philippines, you will find a coconut tree.
Coconut trees are popular because they are easy to grow. They do not need much
care. They are very useful.
The water and meat of the young coconut or buko make a refreshing snack.
Cooks also like to have coconut trees in their backyards. They take the thick flesh of
the nut, grate it, and squeeze it to make coconut milk, which they add to meat, fish,
or vegetables to make a creamy sauce.
The coconut tree is also used for building. The trunk makes good housing
posts and the leaves are woven to make a roof.
