As against the production target of 2,82,000 MT of oil set for the financial year ending March 31, 2011, the ONGC- Rajahmundry Asset has achieved 2,82,810 MT on March 8, 2011.
Executive Director of the Asset A.A. Khan has said that flowing wells at the Asset are helping in achieving the target much to the satisfaction of the management. Not resting on the laurels, the Asset's team is toiling hard to take the figure beyond previous year's historic and enviable production of 3,03,000 MT. Referring to the gas and VAP production targets, he said for the current financial year they were 1,356 Million Metric Standard Cubic Metres (MMSCM) and 66,000 MT respectively. They are expected to be achieved six days in advance, he added. In the third quarter, there was loss in production due to fire in GAIL's gridline near Ponnamanda. However, production was restored using the alternative pipeline network. With a private player at the helm in KG Basin, the off-take of Naptha from Tatipaka refinery has come down. Against such odds, innovative plans were evolved and a win-win deal struck with HPCL. As per the agreement, ONGC would buy lube oil of HPCL. In turn, HPCL would lift ONGC's Naptha. With these steps, VAP targets would be surpassed, he said. Currently, the per-day production at the Asset is 930 tonnes of oil 3.6 MMSCM of gas and 230 MT of VAP.
