Hurricane Helen - Day 13 AJ Burke joined us this afternoon. He lives here in Asheville and is chair of the local IEEE section. Aj's home was not damaged in the hurricane. He is an active IEEE member and long time MOVE volunteer. Glad he could find time to visit with us. We did a walk through with the Red Cross DST lead and have a plan for network transition. After we get the Red Cross networks running, MOVE-1 will be available to leave. Current plan is to return to Raleigh for some required maintenance on the generator. After that, we are available to redeploy. MOVE-2 is in the middle of a crew changes. Bill Guzek arrived today to replace Mark Torres. Jay Diepenbrock is here and filling Bill Wooton's position. They will continue to service Red Cross requests here in western NC. MOVE-3 is secure in Orlando as hurricane Milton passes by. They are at a Red Cross center that will provide initial evaluation of the needs that will be required. They have equipment to provide internet to the Red Cross even if local communications is not available. We will be anxious to get the early morning update. How You Can Help: Donate: Every contribution makes a difference! A suggested donation of $40 can go a long way in supporting MOVE’s disaster response efforts. Thank you to our volunteers for your dedication! Stay safe, everyone! #ieeehtb #ieeeusamove #IEEEFoundation #IEEE #ieeeusa #disasterrelief
