Robust, high-quality transportation dataset with advanced analytics, enabling insights to empower research & instruction

About us

To create the National Transportation Data and Analytics Solution (NTDAS), IEEE partnered with leading authorities in transportation and mobility data intelligence to bring a new research and analytics solution to academic institutions and non-profit organizations. NTDAS is a new subscription offering from IEEE, that leverages the National Performance Management Research Data Set (NPMRDS), which contains field-observed travel time and speed data collected from across the U.S. National Highway System (NHS), and the full Traffic Message Channel (TMC) road segments network in the USA. This robust data set brings several billions of speed data and travel time observations to the fingertips of researchers, enabling multi-disciplinary use cases for both academic research and teaching purposes. This powerful deep dive analytics platform enables researchers to retrieve, analyze, visualize, and better understand this critical data, leading to deeper insights quickly and easily. With observations at up to 5-minute intervals, researchers have a unique opportunity to study historical trends and future projections, anomalies, and correlations associated with a variety of urban and suburban related applications including planning, design, traffic operations and management, freight analysis, safety analysis, congestion analysis, and microclimate studies.
