It's Just Spilled Milk

It's Just Spilled Milk

Who knew??? Today, February 11th, is Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day! My first thought was "that's silly!" but then I read up on it - the day is meant to help promote a positive attitude even when things might not be going your way. It’s a day for looking on the bright side of things and then carrying that feeling with you every day after. Do not worry and do not stress over the little things. Life is too short to let the little things bother us.

So many of us have so much on our plates, we try to survive by getting and keeping our ducks in a row. While there are plenty of times when studying, preparing or organizing are essential to our well-being and productivity, sometimes, things are just going to happen. A snow day is called for your child's school. Customers make special requests. A car pulls out in front of you. The server brings the wrong dish. You take a wrong turn. Your computer crashes. Yes, all are things that can make us upset and force us to alter our plans. But do they have to negatively impact all the other positive things around us? We may not be able to control unexpected disruptions in our lives, but what we CAN do is control how we REACT to them.

Breathe. Calm your mind. Ask yourself, “Will this issue matter tomorrow?” If the answer is “no,” then it’s just a little spilled milk. How about next week or next year, or even an hour from now? Still a no? It’s still just spilled milk. If the concern doesn’t change the entire course of your life, it’s only spilled milk. Clean it up and move on.

What are some ways you cope with life’s twists and turns? #DontCryOverSpilledMilkDay #passthetorch #motivation
