I love this! Here’s 2 specific ways that I use positive self-talk to help me engage an audience: 1. Just before I’m about to hit the stage, whether for a keynote, workshop or comedy gig, I remind myself of what I need to do to get the results I want. Sometimes it’s a simple as “you’ve got this”, “listen and respond” or “take your time”. 2. When I actually hit the stage, I smile and think “welcome”, “I’m so glad you’re here” or “this is gonna be fun” while looking at the audience. This get me in an appreciative, present mindset that connects me to the audience and relaxes me so that I maximize my capacity to deliver with ease, joy and impact. I’d love to hear what works for you!

Amazing to see top performers focusing on the fundamentals of #mindset and #psychology. When the competition heats up, keeping your focus positive is essential. Those little voices of doubt and insecurity are waiting for even the slightest chink in your armour, and if you give them even just a moment, they will derail your performance. By speaking affirmations aloud, you do two things: - Firstly, it is practically impossible to have a different conversation in your brain and your mouth at the same time. By speaking positive words, it means there is no space in your brain for negative thoughts. - Secondly, if you believe the words, they might actually happen. Whether your vocalisation focuses on technique, impact or attitude, there is a far greater chance that outcome will occur as a result of focusing on it. What are you saying to yourself today to keep yourself positive, motivated, and focused on the best possible outcomes? Memories and imagination are like two sides of a scale. When off-balance, you’ll probably experience unrealistic expectations or waves of crushing doubt. ...but why? Because doubts mostly live in your memories and desires live in your imagination. That’s not to say that doubts can’t live in your imagination and desires can’t come from past experiences, and it’s also not to say that you should tip the scale more heavily on either side. The imbalance becomes a problem when you believe you have control over your past or your future. You have neither. All you have control over is taking action in the present on what you want to do and who you want to be. Start today by working your “BUT…” off. ✌🏻
