This approach is amazing to use rain water effectively and slow the runoff and mitigate flooding. Pragmatic approach to the need-of-the-hour solution.
On the #WorldWaterDay being celebrated today, we re-dedicate ourselves to helping cites manage their water resource, help store it in lakes, keep it clean with help of bio-remediation. #EcoSystemServiesApproach incorporating #NatureBasedSolutions in design can help cities mitigate flood-risks, improve the ground water recharge and have the healthy aquatic eco-system for all the waterbodies to help combat temperature, and other climate challenges. #WaterSensitiveUrbanDesign can help create better #qualityoflife in cities by helping with more green, cleaner air, lesser pollution and increased bio-diversity and shade. #StreetDesign plays a crucial role in helping cities manage stormwater - some of our built work examples demonstrate this. Climate safe rooms are an interesting concept to prepare for our changing environment around the world. Climate change and especially rising temperatures will likely affect South Africa in coming years, so the way we build should seriously consider these factors. This article looks at measures being taken in Australia to deal with existing challenges regarding extreme heat that causes more deaths than any other natural hazard in the country. Our lightweight materials achieve far better insulation than most other traditional building materials. https://lnkd.in/dk8EiucR #SustainableConstruction #LightweightConcrete #GreenBuilding #CemteQ #ConstructionMaterials

Walkable streets and vibrant cityscapes are crucial to urban development, but without carefully considered water management that development is irrelevant. The UN predicts 68% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050, putting sustainable water supply among the world’s most pressing challenges. Climate change is impacting supply, spurring both droughts and flooding, and turning a spotlight on the effective solutions already under consideration. Toilets are a place for peace. This is the theme for World Toilet Day 2024 - focussing on the fact that toilets are an essential space, at the centre of our lives. A place that should be secure, safe and private. This is sadly not the case for billions of people across the globe, where sanitation is under threat from conflict, climate change, disasters, neglect or lack of infrastructure. Safe toilets for all by 2030 are one of the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 6 - but faster action is required to improve access to sanitation and toilets across the globe. #WorldToiletDay
