  • Known for the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary, Bharatpur also has the undefeated Lohagarh Fort (Iron Fort), built in 1733 by King Suraj Mal. Shifting his capital from Deeg, he selected these marshy lands to set up the walled city encircled by water channels as protective moats, making Lohagarh an architectural and strategic marvel, and a great example of how the natural and built were planned together. Today, these historic water channels, now polluted drains, hold immense potential for transformation. Imagine a lush blue-green network reconnecting Bharatpur to its roots—shaded walkways, thriving biodiversity, and scenic water features weaving through the city. Reviving this heritage could unlock Bharatpur’s full eco-tourism potential, complementing its bird sanctuary and celebrating its rich history and sustainability. Let's celebrate our water history and create new eco-sensitive zones, to help unlock the immense tourism potential for all our historic cities!

  • Imagine having had to negotiate traffic jams, busy queues, and then arriving at a metro station plaza - that looks and feels like a garden plaza! A pause point in this busy city, a place to sit and find some personal time, while enjoying being in a public place -time to catchup on your phone, time to call a friend, time to enjoy the sun! This is what is the new transformation of the Nehru Place Metro Station has brought about - with a carefully crafted out public place that once used to be a parking lot the new urban landscape plaza now has ramps for people with bags, prams, and wheel chairs. Adding a little bit of the OASIS magic to make our cities better! Do let us know your thoughts on how would you like your city to be designed?

  • Ambedkar Park is a Linear Park at the heart of the NDMC area, a thoughtfully designed park adjacent to Janpath. Each such pocket in a public space becomes important as it is seen by a large number of people daily and affects not only the city’s aesthetics but also the psyche of its people.   This linear park is more than just green space; it’s a slice of an important part of the bustling city. The design subtly reflects the architectural language of the Lutyens zone in terms of its lines, materiality, and flavour. It doesn’t shout out but is very subtle, allowing the space to speak for itself. #UrbanDesign #PublicSpaces #Landscape #NewDelhi #AmbedkarPark #UrbanSustainability

  • Master-planning a new hilly city, the design focuses on leveraging the new railway station as the central hub, while leveraging the riverfront views for the low-rise built, created around a network of walkable paths along the existing gradient of the land. The natural drainage streams help articulate the design and to work the sectional levels so that at both levels along the gradient open either onto a road or onto a green eco-mobility corridor along the natural streams. Retaining the cultural and natural heritage of the place, while integrating modern tourism concepts shall help the city attract future investments.

  • It is said that one picture can convey a thousand words.... This photo of one of our streetscape design projects in Delhi, near the Kirti Nagar metro station – captures the mood of people taking a few minutes out of their busy schedules, some to check their phones, others catching up with friends – the new street design gives all of them options to do this – while making walking more comfortable and fun. Interestingly, the design tries to integrate the open space under the elevated which is owned by #DMRC, while the road sidewalk is with #PWD. A low, see-through fence is designed to integrate the #BorrowedView, while segregating the city’s open space under different agencies. The visual expanse along this street-edge helps give a more expansive garden experience to the users, and the existing trees shade the space making it quite pleasant even in the summer heat. The successful implementation of the #SwatchBharatMission, mandates all the street vendors, and kiosks maintain their own area, provide trash-bins, as keeping the area in front of their stalls is their responsibility. The exiting vendor-kiosk here – which has been integrated into the new streetdesign is a perfect example of how one tiny stall can help activate a streetscape design, while providing the users a reason to stop by, and sit along the new seater steps and enjoy the urban life. Different textures in the paving and the colorful red elements juxtaposed with a varied planting palette, helps establish a sense of place – all of which go on to create an experience that is protected from the vehicular traffic, safe, well-lit, comfortable and clean. It is these little things that make up the experience of the city – something that all of us deserve to feel proud of our cities we live in. This transformative change is what we hope to bring to all the cities we work with - where streets need to be reclaimed, reimagined and transformed into people places for all to enjoy!

  • Glad to share that our Principal, Ar. Akash Hingorani, recently delivered a presentation on "Mainstreaming Nature Positive Strategy" at the workshop organized by the Asian Development Research Institute (#ADRI). The workshop, which focused on "Urban Development with Emphasis on Solid Waste Management: The Case of Patna," was inaugurated by Shri Nitin Nabin, Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development and Housing, Government of Bihar. This impactful event brought together national-level environmentalists, policy-makers, urban planners, academicians, environmental scientists, and government officials to collaborate on sustainable solutions for urban growth. And our Principal, Ar. Sujata Hingorani, participated as a speaker at the Festival of Architecture & Interior Designing (#FOAID) 2024, where she took part in a compelling debate on the topic: "Is Delhi Heading Towards Ecological Destruction?" As one of the leading voices in sustainable architecture and planning, Ar. Sujata Hingorani offered valuable insights into the growing challenges facing Delhi, including rapid urbanization, pollution, and the strain on natural resources. The debate focused on finding solutions to safeguard the environment while accommodating the city’s expanding needs. Both events mainly focused on the future of our cities which depends on how we approach urban development and ecological preservation, and discussions like these are vital in shaping that future.  #Sustainability #EcologicalDestruction #UrbanDevelopment #SustainableDesign #GreenCities #Environment

  • Streets as #OutdoorRooms......places for people to meet friends, places for kids to enjoy activities that they cant do at home - cycling, skating, etc. Fixing complex traffic junctions, adding green buffers to segregate the pedestrian and cyclists from the vehicular traffic, each streetscape design packs a cultural context and a site-specific response - that helps us create an unique placemaking opportunity for the city. Redesigning the #publicrealm in our cities to create memorable experiences and improve #QualityOfLife! #Gandhinagar #Gujarat
