It's important to pause and reflect on how far we've come as a team of business-enabling IT professionals since Walden Digital's inception four years ago. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with “Interface”, Europe's leading CIO magazine, for an in-depth interview. We discussed the latest digital supply chain trends in logistics and healthcare logistics and explored the Digital Transformation happening across the Walden Group and its subsidiaries—Walden Digital, Movianto, ETP, TPI, and Ciblex/Relais Colis. The interview covered our innovative data journey with Databricks/Azure and the unique advantages of having in-house software development capabilities through our own digital subsidiary. "Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) aims to establish and enable a national digital health ecosystem, and build out the underlying digital public infrastructure. Cybersecurity is core to ABDM. The entire health stack is designed on a federated architecture model. Unlike in most other countries, we will have decentralised data storage," Himanshu Burad, OSD to Additional CEO, National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India, speaking at FTI Consulting's consultation on ‘Navigating Cybersecurity Challenges in Healthcare’, which spanned stakeholders from government, the cybersecurity and healthcare ecosystems, insurance, and others.   During the consultation, Jamie Singer, FTI Consulting Senior Managing Director and Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Communications Practice Co-lead, showcased global best practices to respond to a cybersecurity incident in the healthcare sector. She said 67% of healthcare organizations globally suffered a cyberattack in 2023 and the average ransom payment paid in 2023 was $1.54M, almost 10x what it was in 2020.   This was followed by a panel discussion where participants from medical devices industry, hospitals and insurance players talked about the need for regulations and capacity building of various stakeholders to ensure compliance. We're now at an inflection point in the #healthplan / #healthinsurance #industry and the #healthcaredelivery system. Three days ago, Senators Warren, Markey, Auchincloss, and thirteen (13) House Members urged the #sec to open an #insidertradinginvestigation into #unitedhealthgroup executives’ stock trading activities. Some observations and take-aways from the attached article: 1) Based on Mr. Witty's testimony, it's apparent that he and #uhg's #corporatelegalcounsel have been preparing for his testimony for several days (if not weeks). It would not be surprising (to learn down-the-road) that external #legalcounsel was also involved in Mr. Witty's preparatory work for participating in the senate and house hearings. 2) Federal legislation is coming. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in both chambers of #congress and who will be defending the industry during committee hearings and eventually debate on the floors of congress and #senate. 3) We're quickly reaching the point of 3 months post breach and #unitedhealth and #optum are still getting a handle on the magnitude and severity of this breach. Per Mr. Witty, he "estimated that the #databreach could affect about one-third of all Americans — which would be more than 100 million people — though he said the number was uncertain." 4) Per Mr. Witty, "Change Healthcare’s footprint was the same as it was before UnitedHealth acquired it in 2022.
