𝟭𝘀𝘁 “𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 & 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺” aimed to bring together the various players in the charging chain (grid operators, charging station operators, vehicle and battery experts, etc.) to discuss important issues. 🚗🔋 Short teaser presentations were given by selected experts on the topics of “#grid”, “#charging infrastructure” and “#V2X research”, each followed by a lively discussion in a fishbowl format. 🌍🤝 This enabled the "Vehicle & Grid Forum" to develop a common understanding of future problems within a heterogeneous group. 📄🌐 The results of these discussions will be published on the website in the upcoming days: https://lnkd.in/dy5GDv9R 🔄🗣️ The forum is planned as an annual event, whereby the format, which focuses on extremely open discussions, is to be retained. 🗓 #VehicleGridForum #EVCharging #SmartGrid #OpenDiscussion #SustainableFuture #CleanEnergy

A bowling ball sized sensor, called the 'Neuron', can determine the real-time temperature of a transmission line-- allowing operators to safely increase the power levels flowing through it. A pilot program in Minnesota is testing whether or not these “magic balls” have a place in American utility distribution. This grid enhancing technology is a fantastic combination between automation and efficiency that doesn't threaten existing utility jobs! Instead, the Neurons streamline human capability and expand grid capacity. Not only that, but they have the potential to save consumers money if operators can deliver different forms of energy without building new lines! I hope that small scale programs like this one continue to be tested throughout the country because it is exactly the type of innovation we need to sustain growing electricity demands between consumers, corporations, and clean energy manufacturers. #GridCapacity #GridStability #Automation #GridEnhancingTechnology #CleanEnergyCost

The shift to electrified transportation is well underway and #Utilities are working to ensure the grid can handle the increased energy demand needed to charge electric vehicles (EVs). To effectively manage #EV adoption and the growing demand for charging, utilities need to embrace proactive, analytics-driven approaches, like Itron, Inc.'s distributed intelligence (DI) solution. DI provides real-time insight into EV charging patterns and control out to the grid edge, which is crucial to preventing grid overloads. Nick Tumilowicz, director of distributed energy management at Itron, shares more in this T&D World article:
