Data on the Italian Food Retail Industry was presented today by Benedetta Brioschi (Partner and Head of Food & Retail and Sustainability Practice at The European House - Ambrosetti), at America Buys Italian 2024, a top-tier B2B summit connecting local Italian food and beverage producers with leading buyers and purchasing managers from major U.S. grocery chains, organised by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce, Inc.. This edition is held in Peschiera del Garda, Italy, from 6 to 11 October. Following the end-of-2022 peak, inflationary pressure is gradually decreasing in Italy, but its impacts are lasting: volumes in all spending categories have declined over 2023. The Italian Food Retail industry has, however, continued to show resilience, proving to be a strategic asset for the country's economy - generating a grand total of €204 billion of Value Added, 12% of Italy's GDP - and a reference point for consumers. As explained by Benedetta with the support of our data, one of the key drivers for the resilience and the economic performance of the Food Retail industry is the development of Private Label products, which have grown into being recognized as proper brands with well-defined industrial identity and great openness to sustainability and innovation. #AmericaBuysItalian #FoodRetail
